Default [Project] Cheap & Easy!

A little backround :

I had gotten this case last year for free from my uncle, it had a no name super light weight 200w PSU, a AMD Athlon 1600 cpu and a K8 motherboard I think, also had a Maxtor 80 gig HDD with windows 98 (lol), Pretty cool for free!

Everything got tossed into my box of useless computer parts except the hard drive, So why not do something with this ugly case?

The goal:

Mod this case over the course of the month to something I wouldnt be ashamed of to show off.

It will be done as cheap as possible, which means borrowing parts from older computers I have, finding deals, raiding scrap piles..etc

And.. airflow airflow airflow! It has a 80mm intake and a 80mm exhaust, Il be bumping this up to 92mm in some areas.

The plan?

Colors: Not sure but The inside will be satin black (or flat) I will most likely go Red for the outside with some black.

Case window? Maybe! I can get plexi scraps from my fathers work so That saves a few bucks. But I'm not to worried about looking to my computer at the moment..I just want some airflow.

So here is what it looked like when I got it.

The case frame is made of thin sheet metal with sharp edges, and case sides are a thicker sheet metal..nothing expensive here. The front is 2 piece plastic. I will not be using this.

I attacked the case and removed the plastic shell in the front. Luckly It has a nice square frame, I will remake a face to my own design using plexiglass most likely..whatever I can get my hands on.

I only need 3 hard drive bays at most, So I drilled out the rivets and removed them.

Yes they will lack support when I chop the bays in half, but they will be rigid when the hard drives are screwed in the rails.

I only use 1 3.5inch and 5 inch bay, so I Might add a fan up there also.

I will reattach them with small nut and screws going through the existing rivet holes.
