Default [UPDATE]First Buildlog - Paint, LEDS, Cold Cathode, More Fans

My sig rig is going down for some upgrades. In the next two days my Cooler Master 330 is getting a window and a blue cold cathode and some blue LEDs. The window is going to be cut as two opposing triangles separated by an inch or so. On the separating strip I plan to mount the cold cathode. On the top of the case i plan to add a 92mm exhaust pulling heat from the front of the psu and memory. While the case is down and open I plan on lapping my E2200 and AC Freezer 7. Along with the lapping, I will be installing a new HIS HD4850 IceQ4 and 2x2gb corsair xms2 800mhz. For now I'm posting before pics of my rig and horrible cable management. Tomorrow as I pick up the rest of the materials for my build I will post before benches and start the build

Edit: Before mod temps on the cpu

Idle - 23*/24* Load - 61*/63*

Default Update 1

Well first off, I have gotten everything broken down.
As I sat down to start working I discovered a big problem that is temporarily stalling work: The dremel is broken!! It got rained on and rusted through. Not my fault! A trip to Home Depot today should solve this. In the meantime prep work and base coat of paint can be done.

My E2200 and my AC Freezer 7 off the mobo, cleaned up, and ready to be lapped.

The case all cleaned up and ready for layout of the circular cut for the 92mm exhaust fan going on the top. I also plan to flip my PSU so it draws air from outside the case instead of directly off my AC Freezer 7, so there will be an additional 120mm circular cut on the top to accommodate the PSU

The left side panel will be getting the opposing triangle shaped window. I was walking through HobbyLobby and found a drafting triangle ($1.69!!!) that turned out to be the perfect size for my windows. All it took was laying out where I wanted them with a rule and T-Square, and then a simple trace!

Last bit of work for this update, random removable case parts got their first and second coats of black acrylic spray paint. I'm not going to bother sanding these.

The right side panel and the main part of the case also got first coats, except for on the top of the case where i used newspaper to cover over where i drew my circular cuts. The side panels and flat surfaces inside the case will all get a fine sanding before the next coat.

Good news! As I was writing this, the nice man from UPS showed up with goodies! Kitty helper ftw

My new HD4850 512mb!

New Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 2x2gb, New tube of AS5, Blue Cold Cathode, and another blue LED fan

More updates to come as I get lapping and cutting!! Off to Home Depot

Default Update 2

New Dremel at the ready, I decided to start cutting the triangular panels. I managed to get the rough cut of the first triangle finished and had just started the second when it started raining, putting a halt to the power tool activities. So basically just a minor progress update

Me cutting away. My girlfriend took charge of the camera for that.

Just before the rain hit.

I started lapping my AC Freezer7 so expect next update to be HSF/CPU lapping and maybe some more of the finished cutting and grinding. Of course my girlfriend also brought home so it might be a day or two.
