Default [PROJECT] "April" - in progress...

PROJECT "April"

Well here we go. This build will probably be ongoing for a while cause buying what I have so far has sent me broke and I'm just getting started. The plan for this build is a custom dual loop internal water cooled setup. One loop for the CPU and Mobo and the other for what will hopefully be a quad SLI setup. Colour scheme is red and black and I eventually want something mod of the month worthy... gotta aim for something right. Lets get started.

System: APRIL
CPU
Core i7 920 D0
Motherboard
EVGA x58 Classified E760
Memory
Corsair Dominator GT (1866MHz)
Graphics Card
EVGA GTX 295 Co-op Edition
Hard Drive
- Western Digital 500GB
Power Supply
Corsair HX1000
Case
Cooler Master HAF 932
CPU cooling

Why the name -

I want to build a good looking computer so I figured I should name it after a good looking girl. Call it inspiration if you want. While I had lots of suggestions, I really like the dukes of hazzard and ... Daisy Duke. But I didn't want to name my megatower Daisy so I named it after the actress who played Daisy in The Dukes of Hazzard - The Beggining. April Scott. (If you've seen her, you know why...)

Parts I have -

CPU - Core i7 920 D0
Mobo - EVGA Classified E760
Ram - Corsair Dominator GT 6Gb (1866MHz)
Video card - EVGA GTX 295 co-op edition
PSU - Corsair HX1000
Case - Cooler Master HAF 932
DVD Drive - LG GH22NS50 (If I remember correctly)
Fans - Cooler Master 12cm red LED
Fan Controller - Lamptron FC2
CPU Cooler - TRUE Rev. C (for the time being)

Parts to get -

- 2nd GTX 295
- Sound card - Creative Sound Blaster
- HDD - Solid state, Western Digital 1Tb
- More ram if I'm feeling stupid

WATER COOLING PARTS! -

Loop One -

- CPU Block - EK Supreme LT Plexi
- Motherboard Block - Koolance MBEVX58CF
- Radiators - Alphacool NexXxos Xtreme Pro I Rev.2 Radiator
- Alphacool NexXxos Xtreme Pro III Rev.2 Radiator
- Pump - Swiftech MCP655-B
- EK-D5 X-TOP - Acetal G1/4 Rev.2
- Reservoir - EK Multioption Reservoir 150 Rev2

Loop Two -

TBA

Case Paint job -

Well enough of that. Heres the first lot of pictures of the case paint job. I completely stripped the paint from the case because I'd already painted it and wasn't happy with the result. I did a couple coats of primer, lightly sanded, then 2 coats of black, sanded and finished with another black coat or 2 if needed.

I should also appologise if the photos are terrible. Not my talent at all. Most of the first pictures are at night so colour looks different than it actually is. Theres one picture of the case in daylight down the bottom somewhere that shows more of what the colour really looks like.

The end result.

As you can see I left out the hard drive cage. This is where I want to put the rad or rads for the graphic cards loop.

And the steps through the painting process.

Primer drying in the afternoon sun.

Final coats of paint went on in our open garage cause there was a cold breeze blowing outside, strong enough to put more paint on my arm then the case.

Heres the case back together after putting all 52 rivets back into it.

The one picture taken in daylight.

Heres a teaser for the next update I guess.

Very nice on the paint job. I'm hoping to move over my components from this Alienware to my HAF that I've had for weeks now. I left the back of mine silver though, just though it would make it a little bit harder to see things, plus I ran out of paint.

I'm such a corsair fan so I went with the 6GB Dominator GT 1866MHz pack. Colours matched up quite well I think... not that thats why I got them.

Get crackin' on that window then. I'd love to see a few more window mods cause I want to do some custom window thing on my side panel. I'm just not gonna start it until i figure out how to mount the bottom rad.

I only had 1 can of primer and ran out so I had to go get more. Then I bought 3 cans of black, ran out and had to get 1 more after that... which I used completely up.To top it off I live 30mins out of town.

Nice looking paint there FalloutBoy. I'm sort of burned out on all the black cases but your black looks well prepped & finished. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished out with the red contrast.

I checked out your rig's namesake "April"...nice. A point of trivia but I actually went to high school with John Schneider, the orginal "Bo Duke"...seriously, I did....and my real middle name is "Duke"....odd stuff. I should have taken Drama classes like John did.
