Well guys, let's get started. The Assassin is an ever-evolving AMD system, inside an NZXT Tempest. The idea behind the computer was 50% performance, 50% looks. I've been running the case in a very nice condition for the past 8 months, but it's time to turn up the heat. The Assassin has and probably always will be green and black. This is mostly because green and black happen to be some of my favorite colors. As far as I know, I was one of the first people to mod the NZXT Tempest to green... and it's been great. Enough talking, I'll show you some pictures of the Assassin at it's old peak. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As you can see. It's not so bad for a 15 year old that has to do odd jobs to get money. But I always felt like I could do more with the Tempest as my platform. Problem was, I had run out of ideas. So I created the NZXT Tempest User Community so that other Tempest owners could pool together their ideas and improve their cases. There are a lot of great cases in there, but one of the mods I want to avoid is paint. I am fail at painting, and if I were to get my case painted it would probably be expensive powdercoating. Then one day da tick 07 (He runs a Green/Black Tempest too, here) posted the most amazing thing I had ever seen. ![]() I just knew, I had to have cables like this in my case. A little searching on ebay, and I had 25' of 1/8" Carbon and 25' of 1/8" UV Green coming to my door. Since the green was UV, and I wanted the most green as possible, I ordered some new green cathodes, and some UV cathodes from Sidewinders. I also ordered a ATX/Molex removal tool from Performance-PCs to make my life easier. ![]() Shortly after, the sleeving came in. I was in love. ![]() ![]() Test fit. ![]() Then I tested the UV. ![]() Everything was lined up... except my heatshrink. The guy I bought it from was on vacation, so I ended up waiting another week for the heatshrink. It decided to come on a Friday, and I decided to clear all of my weekend plans for sleeving. I tore down the Tempest, and moved my computer onto a box to make sleeving more "on the go". ![]() ![]() ![]() *Stock NZXT Tempest fans finally being useful* ![]() I was actually pretty tired that night, so I just played some games and called it quits (long week). But the next day I got up early (for a weekend..) at 10AM. Work then started on the main motherboard connector, also known as the 24-pin. Two hours later, I took these pictures, very satisfied with myself. After a few days of sleeving odds and ends (cathodes, small wires) and some school, I decided that the PCIe power connector would be the next one to get dressed up. But before that could happen, my other 100' of sleeving had to show up. It did, and below you can see my normally very clean room in an extreme mess. *Shirt hanger is kinda ghetto, but who gives a crap, it works dammit.*
![]() The Tempest all empty on the inside. ![]() Messy floor. I was in search of my thermal pastes. ![]() The workstation. ![]() The shirt hanger... and ![]() Om nom nom Goldfish (so addicting) ![]() ![]() The poor Assassin just sitting here on life support. ![]()

Everything was going great as far as sleeving was concerned. I was sleeving everything that I could without turning off the computer, but then I ran into a problem. My 8-Pin CPU extension would NOT come undone. So I decided to use my awesomeness and pull really hard. Turns out the wire broke before the the clip fell out of the plastic plug. FUUUUUUUUU.
Here I am. (Gotta atleast make humor out of crap.) 8-Pin CPU, I am disappoint. ![]() 100' of sleeving vs. Kami ![]() Perty 24-Pin ![]() Last but not least... I leik these wirez. ![]() Although taking these pictures is fun... I have better things to do with my seemingly limited time. Like I mentioned before, I was sleeving all the odds and ends. ![]() ![]() ![]() I then decided to tear my Tempest down to the bone... in the process the Green LED intake fans were quite... dusty... ![]() ![]() Yeah... that's pretty bad. Needless to say, they will be getting cleaned off. Now back to business, the business of sleeving. I decided to crank up my Angels and Airwaves and get back to work. This time on the PCIe power. ![]() Believe it or not, the PCIe power was far harder to sleeve than the 24-Pin. But in the end, it's all going to be worth it. Took me about 4 hours to get the PCIe power sleeved, and I crapped brix when it worked (I was worried lol). I then got a little curios to see how all of my work was paying off... I wanted to see how the UV would look when the sleeving is actually on a wire, and in a black/green pattern. Take a look... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now that you have seen this... I'm sure you're just as excited to see me throw it in the Tempest as I am... More to come, The Assassin will live again.

Yeh nice job mate, good work on the sleeving. Only thing (its just a personal thing for me though
) you used a bit too much green sleeve on the 24 pin.It just feels a bit messy with all that colour. Using a black to green cable ratio like otsego_amigo used gives your sleeving a much more professional look and really gives the green sleeve more attention if ya get what I mean. Other than that, your cable management on the original build was awesome . Best of luck with the rest of your build mate!!!

Well hold on, there is more.
![]() I think so too. ![]() Quote:
Yeah, for what I paid, It's a steal. Here is the "carbon" black. Anddd here is the Green UV. Note, the carbon is NOT completely black. For every two black strands, there is a silver one. That's why it appears to be transparent. Still looks fine, though. Quote:
![]() I guess we all have different tastes. ![]() Now, to the goodies. The Tempest has just been sitting for a while, and I'm not exactly up to finishing the molex/SATA power cables yet, so I am going to run it in the case for a while. To "break it in" if you will... Tempest empty. ![]() Prepping the system to go back into the case. ![]() Bench system, I will miss you. ![]() Here comes the PSU... 24-Pin & PCI-E Power sleeved 50/50 UV Green/Carbon Black. ![]() ![]() ![]() Clearer photo of the main system, RAM installed now. ![]() After many hours of struggle, this is what I came up with. ![]() ![]() I was quite disappointed in the UV lights. They were a waste of money, in my opinion. I then finished off the week just as any normal teenager would. Going to school, shopping, and taking pictures with shoes on my head. Well, kinda normal. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I then went to a LAN party on Friday night (October 16th 2009) and showed off my wires to "the guys". They were more impressed with my work than I was, so I guess I'm just pissed at the UV lights still. *No pics of the LAN, sorry guys*

After coming home from the LAN, I still wasn't satisfied with my wires, they were still too messy for my liking. So before throwing my computer back up on it's desk, I decided to work on it some more. Several more hours of re-wiring, zip-tying, and cranking Tom Delonge's annoying voice with Angels & Airwaves, I was finally done. The UV lights had turned out to be a dead end for me, and I am only keeping one in because the other one was putting what I considered to be too much stress on my SATA cables.
Enough of my blabbering. I took some pics right after I had done it, and I failed. I blamed my camera previously, but in all honesty, I was too lazy to set it up right and the lighting sucked my balls anyways. But enjoy the crappy picture. ![]() Now, being the OCD freak that I am, even this wasn't up to my standards. The lighting on Sunday was even worse, but on Monday (today) it was good enough. Lights, Camera, Action. *Yeah, yeah, you'll need some clean pants after this* Behold. The Assassin v1.02 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() DDR2 is a long lost legacy these days. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Let's plug it in. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So, I spose that's it for now. I am still deciding on a few things for the future like Carbon Fiber vinyls, powdercoating, as well as hardware upgrades. Thanks for watching, I'd love to hear feedback! ![]() Kami out.
