Default CM Storm Scout Light On/Off Switch Mod

The storm scout has the ablility to turn the LED's on the case fans on and off. what i wanted to do was somehow splice in and add the ability for that switch to control turning on and off my red cold cathodes too.

i spliced into the wires going going to the front led light. the switch works with turning the fan led's on and off, but the cold cathodes arent turning on at all. the connections are good and everything is in working condition (the lights arent broken or anything). im thinking it has something to do with how CM wired the switch. i think they may have lowered the voltage, and its not enough for the cold cathode to get power. havent worked on taking the top of the case off to see exactly how they have the front panel wired. that will be my next step.

i need help figuring out why they wont turn on, am i missing something? if it would be helpful i can post pics of what i have done so far. thx for the help

A few of us having been wanting to do the same thing / something similiar.

It's not as simple as we would want it too be...I ended up just adding extra switches to the front i/o panel to save all the hassle...and it works beautifully.

But here is how the led switch is rigged, I should have taken pics when I pulled the front panel off...it's a bit of a mission now to pull mine off with all the soldering and wires and what not

Yeah, it's one of those things...I'm sure it can be done though.

Most smart Engineers always switch the negative side instead of the hot side. So if that is what is happening with you then maybe you are just switching the wrong leg. But determine first if that is the case before changing polarity. You will need a volt indicator to tell if it is hot or not at the switch. IF you get no voltage when switch is off from both sides of the switch then they wired it Negitive switched. If you get Power on one and not on the other when switch is off then it is Hot Switched and you should be lighting up the Cold Cath.

Nahh.. just lake your Cold Cathode switch that came with the system and take the switch out of the long metal plate. Then run the switch inside that little hole in the back of the case under the hand hold of the windowed paneled side and you will have a hidden switch that works great. And no one will know about it but me and your hair dresser.
