The thing im bummed about is having to use my old HD4870 until I decide on a DX11 card to come out. I am going to wait for nvidia's for sure because by then, all the options will be out, and AMD will have to drop their price. It sucks because the PCB on my HD4870 is BLUEEE!! I mean WT*. Why is the art always on the bottom where I can't see it. And the ugly top has no backplate

You could always do a quick mod to hide the blue, get some heavy card/acrylic/metal and cut out a plate then spray it red and adhere it to the pcb with some tape. If it was metal, you could get thermal pads and use it as a heatsink

Nice job btw, but i would leave it longer than 24 hours, just to make sure. 48 should do. Some people leave theres up to a week!

Head to the local acyrlic shop and ask if they have a scrap they would give you. Any black or opaque red would work great.

If not, shoot me a pm, i have acrylic and there is a laser cutter at my school, i would be happy to make one for you if covered shipping and material costs. Can also do engraving on it if you wish.

@oliverw92: I may actually do that, I have some scrap acryllic here, and some left-over red paint. Thanks for the offer, but I don't really want to pay international shipping for something this trivial

@liquidforce: I have a sheet of acrylic that is a good size, and red paint. The acrylic is clear though.

@both of u:

To tape it on, that won't hurt anything on the PCB right? What if I use this stuff?:

I might end up selling the card in the future, but probably will keep it. I still don't want any defects/residue left on it from the tape.

And in order to get it on flush I would have to drill holes wherever the heatsink screws stick out correct? Not remove the screws, just have holes so that the acrylic fits over them.

I would have uploaded some more pictures but my mom stole her camera back that I borrowed. I also will start on the window today, because I don't have very much homework. Who thinks this is a good idea:

Use the jigsaw to cut my window, but use the rotozip to make the first cut. Then tape wood on perfectly straight, one piece on either side of the cut-line, so it creates a track for the jigsaw to go in. I am going to be filing/sanding and u-channeling the cuts anyway, so I just need a way to get them straight to start with. So how does that sound? Post replies if you have any suggestions!

***EDIT*** I had never used a jigsaw before this, I had no idea how steady it would be. No track needed.

How much would it cost to get a cut out of my side panel do you think? If it's more than ~30 I will probably use my jigsaw/rotozip/angle grinder/dremel multi-max to get a hole as perfect as possible, then seal it with u-channel. Scotch 3M clear double sided adhesive tape to seal on the plexi.
Only cost to you is shipping. He doesn't care about small things like side cut outs since it took me about 2 minutes to get mine cut out.

Is the Cosmos side panel all flat? or is it curved somehow? as long as its flat it will be fine, I'm sure it will work still if it is mildly curved.

Oh shoot. Just cut it. Thanks a lot for the offer though, really appreciate it. I'm pretty happy with my jigsaw job, but it is not near professional.

The panel is flat, it does have a metal thing screwed into it in order for the latching system to work, but it can be unscrewed and is perfectly flat.

San Diego is not too far from me, so maybe if I ever want to get a real professional job done, I can purchase another panel, and then talk to you? It would probably be a lone while though...

!!!Update coming shortly!!!

Default Cutting the Window

Here is a short gallery of my window cut. I am semi-satisfied with it, but the u-channel makes it all good. I just wish I could have gotten it water jetted or something, but oh well. Free is good too.

Cleaned with goof-off (2nd time):

Tape and Cut Lines:

My track idea which I ended up ditching because I could hold it steady enough:

The cut:

Edges dremelled down to make it smooth:

With u-channel:

I assembled my case as well, pics in a minute...
