Allright. This is my official worklog for my first ever case mod, second ever build. I'll try to keep it organized and update frequently, don't forget to subscribe to the thread if you want to keep updated. I hope you all enjoy it, and can help me if I get stuck or have any questions. Althought I am pretty far along already, I have been taking pictures, and still have a window to make. Have fun!
TABLE OF CONTENTS Parts, Part I Stripping the Case Making the Cuts, Part I Painting, Part I Planning the Window Painting, Part II Cutting the Window Case Assembly The Power Up Test - Passed Making the Cuts, Part II Painting, Part III Changing the NB Cooler System Assembly, Part I - THE CASE Parts, Part III System Assembly, Part II - THE LOOP Mini-Mod, GPU Fixing the GPU Mod (Sort of) Finishing Touches on the Pump My Card Reader Fail Attaching the Window *DVD Drive and HD coming on Wednesday when I will install Windows and hopefully get some overclock results up here!!* The plan: Take a Cooler Master Cosmos 1000 case, give it a sick red and black theme, and get all the components which include: Foxconn Bloodrage, Core i7 920 D0, Alphacool HF14 Yellowstone Waterblock (Black), Mushkin Redline, and more. Make cable management cuts, as well as water cooling cuts. Cut out a space for a plexiglass window, paint the panel, order the window, attach. Put everything together. Overclock. Thanks! I was just reading your worklog and noticed you had some waterjet work done. I, unfortunately, don't know anyone who works at a shop, and before I start grinding the hell out of my perfect panel, I want to know all my options. How much would it cost to get a cut out of my side panel do you think? If it's more than ~30 I will probably use my jigsaw/rotozip/angle grinder/dremel multi-max to get a hole as perfect as possible, then seal it with u-channel. Scotch 3M clear double sided adhesive tape to seal on the plexi.

It took me a while to get all the parts off; the Cosmos 1000 has a lot of plastic goodies. Here is a picture of most of the parts.

So first, this is going to be a future-proof system, and I plan on adding a second water loop containing a DX11 GPU and 2 GTS 120 Radiators. One will be bottom mounted with push/pull fans, and one will be on the back with push/pull fans. There are two holes cut already for tubes, but I didn't want to have excess tubes outside of the case, so I decided to cut my own tube holes in exactly the right places.
Here is one of them cut, and the other one drawn: ![]() And the other one cut: ![]() With the radiator mounted: ![]() And the nozzles sticking perfectly through to the inside: ![]() Now, the plastic side thing would not go over the radiator while mounted, so I cut out a little with my rotozip: ![]() And it fits very nicely for estimating I think: ![]() I am planning on having my pump sit on the bottom of the 5.25" bays, but there was a grill there that moved the pump up just enough so that it would take 2 bays instead of 1. Some Rotozipping fixed that. Grill: ![]() Removed: ![]() Pump fits snugly under a 5.25" device in the 4th slot: ![]() Next are the cable management cuts. I just did a couple of them, one for some power cables, and one right next to the motherboard's 24-pin connection. Drawn in: ![]() Cut: ![]() And I needed to cut a square in back of the CPU to get to my heatsink without removing the motherboard. This one was ugly because my rotozip grinder became unbalanced and unusable, so I had to do it with the clumsy angle grinder. But luckily, it will stay hidden. Drawn: ![]() Cut: ![]() More to come.
