Cool project, no reason not to water cool whatever you got. The system can always be re-used, upgraded, and moved.

Nice work log, very nice infact, looks very clean as well. Injoy those low temps and piece and quiet.
As for the folks asking why? Because He wanted to and could thats why, no big mistery.

I actually rebuilt the thing today. I was having problems closing the case. I realized that my tubing was quite a bit too long so I cut the tubing shorter after draining the system. Now everything fits much better and I dont have to warily shut the case door. Temps are better, too because there is less tubing to restrict airflow!
My idle temp for the GPU is 29C and under load its 36C. I dont exactly know what it is for the CPU but I would imagine its pretty low for a prescott, likely in the mid 40s. My environment temperatures are pretty low as well, about 35C (this was taken from the diode on the GPU as well, called ENVt in ATI Tray Tools). One think I never noticed was how hot my northbridge got, though. People say you dont need to water cool it but that thing COOKS. It gets way to hot for my liking, getting into the 60s (celsius). I really need to get a new heatsink for it, I was thinking that nice big, blue zalman.

Very need, but why would you watercool a computer that you can't overclock? Air cooling will sufice for that?... I would spend the money on a new motherboard so that I can overclock if I were you....

Good job killnine, I hope you will use that system in your new rig when you upgrade.
Also, to get you computer hooked up to your TV like that, did you just run the s-video from your x800 to the s-video in the tv?

yeah, I would need a new case, mobo and psu. Also, the thing about the northbridge is this. Before I put in water cooling, I modded the air cooling to cool the computer better. But this was loud, though not unbearable. Even before I did this, there was virtually NO air over the NB because of the CPU shroud. This means the NB must have always been cooking. Therefore, I am probably just going to get a larger passive heatsink and hope that does the trick. I have AS5 on the current northbridge but I really dont want to put a big active heatsink on it, I mean, it will just introduce more sound into the case without much tangible benefit. *shrug*

I'm with you--for me, a big part of watercooling's appeal is the blessed silence.
