Default Project: #20 Tony Stewart

So, ahhhhhh, I feel good about this one, much better then my current mod

So, what we have here is a Mid-ATX case with the power supply over the HS, built very sturdy, many layer, removable everything.

Goal: to create a quiet case, with as much Nascar and Tony Stewart as I can fit in it.

The case:

Yep, plenty of work for me to do!

This is where I want to spend most of my time, after seeing what 3xtr3m3 could do with Bondo, I decided I want to try it myself. the goal here is bondo this to a flat, no thrills, then add black mesh with a orange UV fan in front.

Yeah, I know what you are thinking, but I had to use all the tape because of a few problems:

Problem #1). This case was an AT case, and a regular I/O plate will not fit.

Problem #2). The case original held an OLD slot 1 PII 350Mhz, and it was a Compaq Motherboard, the weird thing was was it had an Ethernet port, cept it was in middle, so i had to cut all that away to use it.

Their are the guts, a Athlon XP 1500+ 1.3ghz, MSI KM3M-V, 128MB PC2100, FX5200 128MB 64Bit

this PC will be loaned to a friend of mine, a Web Designer.

you also may notice it has no hard drives, well he somehow killed 4 of them.

Here is one of the main problems with this case, it Overheats, so i had to add a fan to this power supply, so it could try and pull some hot air.

here it is, all stripped down, now you can understand that it has MANY layers.

I decided not to take pictures during the mod because last time it was a hassle, and i was making lots of noise, so the sooner i got done, the better

Here it is done with my first mod, I cut holes for two 80MM fans in the top, because that is the only place I could mount them.

Now, I used a combo of a Angle grinder and files to cut the top holes, (those of you who followed my other case mod, this looks 200% better.)

Notice the back can now fit an I/O plate, and the middle PCI slots aren't so jagged.....

This is all for now, I need parts now.

What I need for this mod:
5X Orange 80MM case fans
Bondo
Orange paint

What still needs to be done:
Cut hole in the top of case to accommodate the fans
Bondo the front
Paint case Orange
Sleeve PSU orange+ Paint it white
Make window

Feedback welcome

I had a similar case (recently destroyed by shotgun) --I also put two 80s up top--that PSU looks problematic--but ya gotta use what ya got.

I hated how the PSU location smothered the HS so I relocated the PSU onto the floor of the case in the front bottom of the interior--you have to mount it sideways to do this--this means more cutting to provide air for the PSU--the power cable exits from the front of the removable left side panel. Made a good deal of difference cooling the CPU. this frees up the PSU slot in the back for more fans and that makes a tunnel of air whipping past the CPU if you have the rear fans blowing in (which is usually a bad thing) and the top fans blowing out.

Do you see what I mean? Relocating the PSU completely fixes the overheating problem--but makes for an odd looking exterior.

Good Luck and keep it rolling.
