Default Spooky's UV Material List for Case Modders

The Ultraviolet Materials List for Case Modders

This is just a simple list of Materials that I have come across that are UV reactive. These materials are very usefull in creating custom UV mods for your computer. This list will be updated with information as I come across it. Please If you have used a certain UV product please let us know so we can add it to this list.

UV PENS

Pens: Use the pens to draw circuit traces and create designs on your motherboard or anywhere that needs some color. The brands listed below apear to be non conductive while dry. For information and pictures on how to use them you can learn more here.

Brands:
Beifa
Zebra
Both brands can usually be found at any office supply store. The beifa brand I found at Staples, Target, Walmart, and Office max. The Zebra brand I found at Office max and Staples. Muffin also found them in the UK.

This is a picture of the end results of the UV Pen mod

Highlighters

Highlighters: At first I found no use for highlighters, But just recently I found a use. You can take the highlighter apart and squeeze the juice out into your reservior to create cheap but effective UV dye. I even found some highlighters that are filled with liquid that you can break open and pour into the loop.

BRANDS:
Avery
Bright
Sanford
Sharpie
So many more
You should be able to find highlighters almost anywhere you go. I left links out due to the magnitude of places you can find them. I even found them at the gas station.

This is a picture of some water bottles I made UV by simply putting the highlightes soft core inside. I have been running Highlighter water in my watercooling loop for several months now with no advers affects.

Paints

Paints:
Use the paint to top of capacitors and PCI sockets. Use it anywhere that you do not require as much detail. I used it to paint parts of my custom tech station. I am sure there are several types. I listed some acrylic paint that is very cheap and does a great job. there are several spray paints as well. In the future I hope to have part numbers and more brands.

Brands:
Brush on Paints
A.C ryan
Plaid [apple barrel]
Sargent
Clearneon
Spray on Paints
Clearneon
I was able to find the plaid and sargent paints at your average craft shop, Walmart and most department stores with a craft section. I have not been able to find clearneon brand paint in any local stores. I have found it at several online stores. The going price for clearneon spray paint is around $15 USD.

Here is a picture of some simple brush on painting

Diet Tonic Water

Diet Tonic Water: At this time I have not tested the Tonic water in my loop. I know that it is UV reactive and looks awesome. I have yet to see this color blue in a highlighter or other product. If anyone is willing to try this let me know the results. Please make sure to use diet so that you do not ruin your system. The sugar could gum up the system and might ruin yor pump. I currently do not recomend this at all because it has not been tested. I just wanted to mention it because of its unique UV color.

Like I mentioned above this list is just getting started. If you know of any other brands or products that can be used for UV case modding let me know so I can update the list. If you know of something UV that you wonder if it is safe to use let me know so that we can see if someone will test it and verify that it is safe.

Here are a few more pictures of what can be done.
If you have any questions or comments feel free to ask.
Feel free to post pictures of your own UV mods in this thread. I am sure that everyone would love to see what other members have done.

Techstation full glow

This one you can see the reservoir filled with UV highlighter sauce, distilled water, and zyrex super coolant.

This is a good picture to show you the UV water flowing through the hoses. you can also see the capacitors and even some circuit traces.

This is from a Timmay7 who discovered the AC ryan uv paint.

Another ac ryan showing all those caps and the IO Bay being painted.

Picture of the paint bottle used in Timmay's hand

Timmay7's final results from the case window. Looks sweet!

I just want to say thank you for checking out this Guide.
Thanks goes out to...
Muffin for the UK pen brand
Sus
quehannok of EOCF for the Sergant paint brand
Timmay7 for the AC RYAN brand
Anyone and everyone for supporting our case mod section
CyberD
found that D-Teks UV dye works flawless. Check it out here is his current build log . If you are looking for retail dye search for D-Tek die.

Thank you

There wouldn't be anything good about me pole dancing!! I just started exploring this section of the forum. I have always been a 'lurker' i'm ashamed to say. I guess I learned to speak up!

FYI, Since the UV markers seem to be so hard to find here in the USA, a member posted the other day they have them at Wal Mart.
