Default Vapochill bezel mod: done before?

I have the first vapochill, complete with the ugly looking, mostly broken bezel. I'm looking to turn it into something cool that doesn't break off. It is, I think, an otherwise very large, and awesome, case. The front rounded "modern" bezel is just so ugly. Sorry if you disagree. is just unnatractive. If you like it, you are wrong. I want to make it nice and flat, not bulky, and fairly solid. (Lian-li-esque.) The parts would stick out as is, but I think that is pretty easy to move them back compared to mounting a new bezel. One dvd burner can just get shoved back a little bit, and the temperature monitor can probably get moved back with little more effort.

I'm looking to see if anyone here has eperience with that kind of thing, since I am totally ignorant. I was thinking acrylic, then mount with the screws from the previous bezel. I just want it flat, plain, and pretty.
