Default Antec P180B sans fan grills

My new dremel worked beautifully, I cut out the fan grills on my P180B on the front, rear and top and the whole case is a bit quieter now, I had done extensive work on this already quiet case and the only noise you could hear was a faint woosh of air and now even that is completely gone.

Grill that fan, or don't say I told you so when you stick a finger in there

Rofl Duke, don't worry these are ultra low speed fans, I've stuck my fingers into my SilenX fans and all that happens is it will stop spinning, its not a Delta or anything truly dangerous.

I plan on doing same mod for my case - just having hard time making that first cut to my brand spankin new P180.

So I guess the only reason for the grill really is for protection? And removal of P180 grill, or maybe even grills on many case fans would result in better air flow and acoustics?? (Anyone done an article on this? Probably.)

I like the idea -and I'm going to cut my grills really - but the cut steel around the edges looks funky. Wonder if something better could be done? Or some kind of better grill that doesn't cause turbulence or more noise?

I wonder if Antec is aware of the safety/performance trade-off of the grills? (probably) Maybe something for them to look at in the future, you know, that one extra inch of quality.

remonster: Can I leave on the "what's it called?" the fancy extra grill on the top of the case - or that must go as well?

That's pretty good for just a dremel. If you want to do it nicer now take some really rough sandpaper and go around the edges so they are smooth to the touch.
