Default Designs - My mod (Un-named)

Thought I'd post up some designs and get some advice

Top

For the blowhole I'm currently going to go with something like this, designed by MNPCTech:

Left side panel

Windows dimensions and shape (as you can see its much more angular)

Right side panel

Front Overview

Alternative design for the front (take a look at the raised fan holes here and imagine a double one of that with mesh in the raised bit)

Back

Mounting of back fan (crude design, blue = fan, green = spacer, red = mounting hole):

Measurement of the back panel, showing why fan won't fit and giving an idea of where spacers will be:

Colour scheme:

Outside: Metallic red
Inside: Black
Lighting: Blue (from LED strips), UV (from LED strips)
Cable sleeving: Black

More to come, this is just a basic idea - need to get the acrylic panel on the right side for the lights designed, chose a fan grill for the top which I can actually afford (the MNPCTech one is $60 + shipping to the UK, not sure I can afford it) - I'll get the designs of the LED light strips done and up soon (need a reply from D3D), same for the internal design; I'm moving the hard drive bays above the PSU, the screws in the top (2 of which are power/HDD LEDs) hold that in place.

So, thoughts please

Holy smoke!

Very nicely planned out.

Your going to have ventilation holes on both panel sides?

looks like it could well be a nice looking mod, i think the black internal painting has been overdone, maybe have sumthing to match your lighting/metalic red exterior?
If you are going to use two fans in the front panel i think you should stick with the sqaure grill, the raised blow holes are only good for single fan's IMO.

Yeah - I'm considering a duct over the hard drives; air will be pulled in one side panel by an intake fan, blasted over the hard drives (silently, of course) and exit out the opposite grill

What about UV reactive blue sleeving on all the cables to match the lighting - then they'd glow with the UV lights on?

I'm preferring the square grill too, out of the two, but I'm considering rounding off the corners to make it more fluid.

Cheers for the comments so far, keep em coming

Ahhh very nice idea! very!
I guess if you think about it, when the cool air is taken in..the new hot air has nowhere to go really, so i guess your idea works. nice one

Cheers

When Burn starts taking orders, I'm going to try and get a blowhole made - I'll try and do some more designs today too

Looks like a well-thunk out plan man. The pleated aluminum filters have an interesting texture to them...as a personal taste I prefer round filters to square ones--depending on how you locate it it could be either.

If you haven't tried it already c-molding from MNPCtech is very nice for covering cutouts on the chassis/panels.

I like the top mounted activity LEDs--that's a nice touch--and of courxe a Burn Milled Blowhole ring (that sound sexy ) would be a crowning touch...

Keep us updated!

Cheers for the thoughts CD

I know what you mean about the filters, but I think the square shape will fit in nicely with the window, and the Burn Milled Blowhole (indeed, that does sound sexy ) hopefully will add the extra touch, especially with some blue LEDs underneath it so it seems to float

Top mounted LEDs were a random thought, but if its put under a desk the lighting would be a nice effect I think, and even if its not under a desk it should look OK.

At the moment, for paint I'm leaning towards Peugeot Diablo Red, I'm going to buy a spraycan and see what it looks like
