Default Radiator Case

After many experiments on where would it be the best location for my wc setup, I decided to go the lego way.

Inspired by the "kits" that exist in the market, I enlisted the help on my younger son to build a box for the radiator and fans. I also wanted to control the speed of the fans so they are not too noisy, so an Aerogate 3 from Cooler Master was added.

So we started by measure the perimeter of the heat core and where/how to support it. That took a couple of hours, as the computer was running and I didn't feel like draining the cooling system. Once we got our measurements, we stated to interlock legos.

We custom fitted the fan support for 2 120mm fans, with space around for the shroud and core. Once that was done, we started working on the front face.

The front face was not easy. The 5.25 x 2.5 opening needed for the Aerogate3 is not easly achievable with the legos we had at hand. So we broke into the legos we had built before. I had to destroy some of my lego cars to get the parts we needed, mostly the flat pieces that give no elevation.

Once the front face was fitted, we worked on cable management. There are plenty oc wires and 4 zip ties did the trick. We broke the rear face to make holes and run the wires.

With that, I reassembled everything and got the computer running again.

Here are a few pics.

My mum gave all my lego away, which I don't mind really but the sad part is the guy who has them doesn't do anything with them now
