Question How much ambient light is put out by UV Cathodes?

Hi

I'm thinking about grabbing some 6" Cathodes (one of those kits that has 2 smaller cathodes hooked together).

My case is relatively dark after removing some things that put out light (check pic), just wondering if UV cathodes put out much ambient light or does it really only react with UV things and not light the case up much at all? (i'm going to put dye in my WC'ing hence the need for UV Cathode )

Is it worth getting a single UV and a single say Blue cathode? or even just a single UV if they put out a fair bit of light (really only looking to light the main area, not the top section where the psu/etc is)

Cheers

Two six inch cathodes should do the trick for lighting up your case. I have two 12" blue cathodes coming in the mail tommorow. You should ask someone on the forums to take a before an after picture so you can get the full effect of them. I would show you on mine, but it would have to be in my crappy server case.

UV lights still put out a decent amount of ambiant (purple) light how ever they also put out Ultra-violet (hence the name UV)

I do find though as i have both in my case that coloured cathodes like blue light up my case far brighter than their UV counterparts

It all depends on what you want, I have a 12" blue at the top of my case and two 12" UV's on bottom and rear. With all of them on, I get good lighting and the UV items stand out. With the blue off, not a lot of lighting but all of my UV items glow very nicely.

hmm, i spose what i'm really looking for is like a "soft" ambient light in the main case area, so the case isn't just plain dark with no light but isn't lit up like a chrismas tree either, if you get what i mean

Hopefully thats provide a nice platform for my watercooling and any other UV items to stand out against while not being overpowered by the ambient light

I'd assume UV Cathodes alone would give that effect yeah?

Yeah, the UV will give the soft ambient and nice UV highlights with UV reactive items
