Umm. You might have switched the 5v(red) and 12v(yellow) lines. That is bad. Check a connector that you did not resleeve for the correct order.

Oh... that does not sound good.

Perhaps it is time to disconnect that PSU and check each of the lines for proper voltage and grounding (red = 5V / Yellow = 12V). Who manufacured the PSU? Do you know what the ratings are?

If you discover that all the lines are okay then test a drive on the molex connectors in question.

Smoke eh...?

Scary.

Hmm, its manafactured by Antec, its a 450w. Its very possible that i may have switched the yellow and the red wires. However I can't be sure plus its confusing because the molex connectors look the same from both sides. Is there any way to tell the right way they go in? I was pretty sure i put them back in the right way but i might have had the molex connector upside down?

Thanks

Last I knew the molex connectors couldn't go in upside down...At least I've never managed to do it when I connect any of them.

I didn't put it into the cd drive upside down When i put the wires back in I may have been holding it upside down therefore the red would go into the yellow slot etc

Smoke is bad, if you did switched the molex's 5v with the 12v, buy new drives, you turned them all in burners.....

I tried plugging in only one of the dvd drives with a molex connector from a different chain. This time no smoke, however the computer hanged booting up on "detecting array". I couldn't open the dvd drive however the green light at the front was blinking. Just to confirm, looking at the dvd drive from the back so you can see all the connectors, the molex connector is on the far right, and the red wire is on the far right next to the edge of the dvd drive?

If somebody could confirm which way the molexes go that would be great.

Thanks
