Default cheaper alternative to sound-dampening mat?

Well I just bought a Nine Hundred, and I wanted to make the inside black, to go with the rest of my theme. I was looking at ways to do this, and the most obvious is painting. However, I hate painting with a passion, plus i don't really have that much time to devote to it. So I was looking at that stick-on sound-dampening material. Seems easy enough, and that texture might actually help the dust buildup to not show up as much as with a mirror finish. Only problem is, the only mats I can find are kind of expensive (>$20), and not as big as I'd like.

So, does anyone know where I can find a material that's best suited for what I'm trying to do? It doesn't necessarily have to be sound dampening, just black, and more than the usual kits come with. Thanks for any help.

Well most of the good dampening material i know of is silver colored. Like aluminum foil. But it does dampen sound/vibration very well, and is also more that $20 (dynamat). You could try a fabric store and see what they have in the way of thin rolls of foam that they can cut to size for you.

I have sound proofing in my old Sonata which was black and it really showed off the dust and was a good surface for dust to cling to.

How about thin black vinyl sheets, or PVC sheets?

Hmm, then I don't know what to do. I really don't want to have to paint the inside...

Paint on bed liner for a truck? I dont know how great it would work for sound, but it's easy to use and will last forever.
