Ok, I need some help. I am doing a mod for my case where I am blocking the ugly drive bays and PSU area from the showcase panel using black posterboard. On the front of the posterboard i wanted to mount a high resolution picture accented with highlighter and UV reactive paint and get some blacklight on it to make it shine and look purty.
__________________Problem: I have practically ZERO clearance between the posterboard and the showcase panel. I have thought of two possible solutions. The first would be to cut holes in the posterboard and place a couple powerful UV lights behind it so the black light shines through illuminating the picture. This is one possibility. The other possibility is to embed UV LEDs into the posterboard as part of the picture itself. Does anyone know where I can buy UV LEDS that are powerful and can be run off my PSU? Is it safe to embed LEDs into posterboard or is it hazardous? thanks in advance guys

UV L.E.D.'s
Those should work for what you want to do, and i think they have smaller one's on that sight. However I'm not entirely sure if it's safe to stick them in the posterboard, it might be though. Also, you will have to do some modding for these to work...

I am thinking you could put those LEDs in posterboard without an issue--just soldrup the leads first--as heat will shrink the posterboard. To run them off your PSU you will need some tinmy 480 ohm resistors. Simply solder the resistor to he leg of the LED to reduce the voltage.
EDIT: Soldering is just one of thsoe things you end up doing--might as well gt an iron and learn.

Those strips look dandy for PC use. The yellow wires on the PSU are 12V. Black is coimmon--simply connect the strip to a molex and away you go...

The strips are meant to be quite nice, easy to use.
LEDs are more flexible and will give you a better effect, you can often buy a big lot (say 100 x 3mm) on eBay which come with free 12V resistors
