Default Would this work?

Hey guys. I was looking at some case mods that were after cars and such. I thought they were awesome but one thing.. wheres the key?

Now it would be awesome to make a car case mod with a key with it.

But what i was thinking of is to mod a ignition switch to be the power switch to the computer. You insert the key and turn it to the right and the wires get shorted and the computer turns on. then if you dont want anyone getting on your computer you turn it off and take the key with you.

Also where would i go about getting an assembled ignition switch from a car?

You can buy SPST momentary key switches. Granted the key does not look like a car key, but it still is cool.

Just think, if a crook wants to hotwire your computer he could pop the ignition and touch the 2 wires together. Awww that would be funny to see on the news.

I have a keyswitch on my desk that I wired up earlier to be my power switch... granted the keys dont look like car keys but its a simple mod.

Only problem is that you've gotta switch the key back to its off position once its tuned the computer on otherwise it will just switch the computer back off again (unless you hook up some sort of relay).

The other idea I had was to use a reed switch and a magnetic key card but I didnt have the time as I needed it asap. Maybe do it on my next case mod though.
