Default Need Room, Help Please: XION Onyx XON-301 Black Steel ATX Mid Tower

I just built my first computer last night and everything went well for the most part. One of the only problems I ran into...which is extremely frustrating, is that the fan on the side of my case is getting in the way of my Thermalright 120 Extreme Heatsink. So as of right now I cannot put the side of my case on and therefore my computer is open...

Any suggestions on what I can do? I'd like to rig up something to where I can still use my side panel of my case and the fan as well.

Thanks in advance guys, you rock!

Here's the case:

You could just take the fan off yeah, and with the HSF that close to the side it will pull air through the hole probably, and you could buy a fan cover to put on it for aesthetics.

Put the fan on the outside of the case?, you could also put a fan guard on the outside of the fan. Sure it will be sticking out but hey its still there and functioning. Either splice the wire or maybe drill a small hole through wherever the wires will be going, if you can pop the little connectors out of the 4pin molex you may not need to cut the wires to get them through.

I'd like to be able to make use of the fan

as far as getting the fan off the plexiglass, that is going to be a bit tricky but most likely can be done although I may have to cut those molex things

Perhaps mounting it on the outside is the best?

where can I get the fan covers from?

I agree pretty much. If the HSF is blocking that fan then i doubt that fan would help even if it was on the outside. Unless of course you have serious airflow problems.

I've done the same test with my Antec 900 and tuniq tower, didn't make a difference.

so I guess the most logical option then is just to take out the fan and put the side panel back on?

should I make use of my 80mm fan and my pci fan that I purchased? I didn't put those in yet because I wasn't sure where to put them. Does the pci fan go near the graphics card? Do I just mount the 80mm fan somewhere in the case?
