So there I was at work, online and of course scrolling through the Case Mod section, and began to get the urge to do my first Case Mod. Then after reading OC'ing Noob's mod log, and many others like Nagal and CD of course I had to pursue this desire.
__________________Upon mentioning to my boss, Jim, that I was looking for a taller/server style case to mess around with he came to the rescue and brought me an old machine from his house. *side note I am a computer/technician like many of you out there* So here it is: Nothing fancy... ![]() Rear View... ![]() Front View... ![]() Top View with 'Kit Kat' being noisy... ![]() And 'Kit Kat' gotta give her the spotlight too... ![]() So my first thought is: 1) I don't like the fact the rear has no area to mount a 120mm fan. 2) There is no backplate. 3) Very spacious. 4) Solid material *think it is steal* 5) Nice and clean look. So I have a few ideas, but I thought I would share the pictures and idea with everyone here, and ask if it would be worth spending my time on or would you buy a cheap full tower and go from there? I think it has potential, with a little imagination and help from you'll online. Thanks ahead of time!!

You could probably cut the rear panel for a 12cm fan. It looks like you could put a 12cm fan (or a small radiator/heatercore) in the front on the bottom. If it is steel, it could take a while to cut with a rotary too, and be ready to go through a few disks.
Also, I say paint the whole thing matte black.

My ideas:
__________________1) Cut the front lower area and mount an internal 120mm fan for an intake. 2) Put another 120mm fan or if I go WC'ing I could have an intake valve. Quick drawing using my paint skillz.. Any ideas for that back bezel? Should I cut a piece of metal or some other material and mount it in the back area?

Maybe find some hard drive cages from another case and weld them onto that case?
Also, is there a side panel? You should make a window and then get some cold cathodes.

Ecoyd1,
__________________I was actually thinking about the HD's earlier and where I would mount them. I would want a bit of airflow over them to allow them to dissipate heat. The MB I have now: K9N SLI Platinum, you can see the SATA ports are facing to the right and downward: ![]() So if I mounted the HD's to the MB tray it would provide adequate air cooling and I could hide the cable's behind the MB tray as well...

mounting them under the I/O Panel cut out in the front looks like a good position. But mounting them at the bottom in the front, you could get airflow from an intake fan to keep those babies cool.
Nice case though, lots of possibilities!

Ok, I have cut out an area for a front intake, 120mm. I would like to use this case but I am at a loss for the back area. I have no backplate, any suggestions for that large circular/rectangle where it would go?
__________________If I can't figure it out I think I'll scrap the idea and just use it as a testing case. Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

If you have no room for a back exhaust then the top would be your next best place.
