Default Alternative to Painting

I had an idea a few weeks ago, I saw this vinyl for sale on Ebay. Seeing how vinyl is used in other PC mods like side panel decoration, I figured I'd give it a shot as an easy alternative to painting the inside of my case.

I did this mod late last night and I haven't perfected the application method just yet, but I have 10 yards of vinyl, I can always redo it later.

I didn't attempt covering the drive bays (I was way too tired to cut out all those small holes) but I got the main areas visible through my side panel window covered quite nicely for a half-dead-tired job haha.

You can see how reflective the vinyl is if you look at the left side of the image, where you can see the reflection of my case fan LEDs.

The vinyl is self-adhesive (basically a really big sticker. . . ).

what's cool with vinyl is you can get different designs. i would like to get some carbon fiber or something with a flame pattern.

an easy way to apply vinyl is by using a solution of slightly soapy water on the surface that you are applying it to, then laying it down and you can float the vinyl around to where you want it, then use a credit card to sqeegy out the water/soap solution.

Love that case, I've got the same one and just put the carbon fibre designed vinyl in it for the mobo tray and the shelf separating the top and bottom. The hard drive cages I popped out, primered, sanded and painted a semi-gloss black.

Thanks! I removed my hard drive cages for good because I only have two hard drives and the bottom is a perfect space for water cooling

Interesting idea, I had never thought of it!! Looks cool, too. I wonder how it holds up over a long time in a computer? Does the adhesive get gooey or does the vinyl lose its shape over time?
