Default PC won't start after modding - please help

Hi

OK, so I have reseated my Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro on my CPU. I have fitted the HR-03 Plus to my 8800 GTX and I have drilled some holes in my Antec 900 and done some cable management.
I have now tried to turn on the PC with only the monitor/keyboard and mouse connected but all I hear is a beep that lasts about 3 secs, it then goes off for a second or two and then comes on again. I get no picture on the monitor, so no idea what's going on.
It's the first time I have done this kind of stuff so I would appreciate your help. How do you narrow down where the error lies? Where do you start?
If you need any further information just let me know.
FYI, I have used a cable extension for the 8-pin power cable .... but that should be fine right?

Cheers.
Anders

check all connections (unplug and plug back in to be sure).
re seat your ram
if using PS2 make sure your Keyboard/mouse is in the right slot.

make sure you have the extra power cable in your graphics card, also the 4pin plug in your motherboard.

all i can think of off the top of my head

Alright chaps - I'll do that tomorrow morning ... I think it's better I get some rest and look at the problem with a fresh mind I'll post back when I have reseated the CPU and heatsink.

Yes, I do mate ... and it stops at C1, which according to the manual means 'Base Memory Detect' .... does that mean anything to you???

Cheers

Is your ram properly seated and locked down? Are the slots where the memory plugs into clean and dust/etc. free?

also, the board could be touching the case somewhere as a result of the mod and shorting?

take the parts out of the case and build them ona desktop and see if they boot.

also check for metal shavings from when you drilled. one of the small pieces in the wrong spot could wreak havoc

Well I have the same motherboard as you... and when I got a C1 error it was because the memory controller died... sorry to tell you but you might have to RMA it. I haven't had any issues with my new board since then, but I have replaced all the TIM on my mosfet heatsinks.

Since the "C1" error has something to do with your memory, maybe try booting with only 1 stick? If you are trying to boot with 2 sticks of course...
