I'm trying to put a 140mm fan on the top of my case, but I don't know how to go about cutting a clean hole. Any advice? I thought a hole saw would be best, but there isn't one big enough for a 140mm fan that is affordable...I thought about dremels, tin snips, etc but I think it's gonna be a rough job

Jig saw it and clean it up with a sanding roll on a dremel.

i used a cutoff wheel on my dremel to remove a stamped fan grill, it cut it VERY well, and not difficult to cleanup the edge afterwards, thats what i would advise doing

I would use Dremel cutting wheel, but be sure to let the tool do the cutting. If you try and push the tool, you'll end up breaking disc after disc. Take your time and keep a steady hand, and the Dremel will work fine.

Awesome, thanks for the help! I went to Walmart and got a cutting tool that says should be used for "wood, plastic, and soft metal". Eh, close enough

for $9.99, i got a set of hole saw bit from harbor freight. sizes were 2.5" - 4.75". they are not meant for metal, but work decently. good enough to get a few holes out of them.

what do you use with the hole saw. i bought a 1.5" metal hole saw and stuck it on a hand drill, and it went all over the place. couldnt cut the hole... do you put it on a drill press?

If you don't want to buy lots of equipment, put a screw in the center of the proposed hole and tie a bit of string to the screw. Make it 70mm long (for a 140mm hole). Tie a pencil or scribe to the other end and draw the circle.
Then drill holes on the inside of the line all around the hole. Use a cheap nibbler from Radio Schlock or a hand held jig saw to cut between the holes.
