Folding Fanatic

Here's a thought. Looks like you have an 80mm fan inside the bay area. Is that correct? If so, it'll measure about 3.14 inches in diameter. 80/25.4 = 3.14 Here's an idea. If you want a "flexible" type tube, try a 3" alum dryer vent hose. They come in 8ft lengths and can be bought at any home improvement center (Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, etc) They are also easy to cut. If you want something more rigid, then try alum tubing for HVAC systems. Those are also located at the above stores. If you want real rigid tubing, then Water Heater Type B vent are made from steel/galv and will add structural strenght to any mod... Just some thoughts that I hope helped, :-)

Extreme Cooler

If you can still put your hdds when you place the fan as shown in the pic than leave it like that. You prolly have a case door which is going to block the fans look. You will be sucking the hot air from the hdds and blowing to the rear exhaust fan. That will also help to carry the hot air coming from the bottom to the rear exhaust.

Ill see if I can fit them in there some how. Although I believe my HDD's are getting some pretty good airflow as it is.

Hrm... about that *turbine* thing. Doesn't a jet engine have many fans all one one spindle? If so... wouldn't that increase airflow/cooling? I would think that it would, but unfortunately I know more about the surface of jupiter than I do about physics
![]() I have no doubt that someone "in the know" will jump on that.

Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
Any restriction physically will effect the flow of air into the fan, much like the physical shape of velocity stacks on naturally aspirated automotive engines.
Not that a tube will matter all that much to your design since the concept as I understand it is for a HDD bay cooler.
