Default Hard Drive Activity LED

I want to tap the HDD Activity Header on the Mobo and install an LED in the drive cage that would be viewable through the case window (Thermaltake Soprano RS101).

Anyone know the voltage for the HDD LED header? It's not listed in the Mobo manual...just says essentially "plug it in here"...

Thanks!

I don't think the voltage will really matter for an LED, they are all essentially around the same voltage. I would just hook it to where you'd normally put the HD LED on the motherboard.

/agree.

In most LED's they are generally running the same voltage, and it's a voltage that your motherboard is readily equipped to handle. Just plug it in and go!

The header is 3.3v

LEDs are generally 3-3.6v. It is close enough not to matter.

Done.

Picked up a 5mm 3000mcd red LED (rated 3.7v) and a 5mm holder from Radio Shack, spliced it in parallel with the front panel HDD light, drilled a hole and placed it at the bottom of the HDD bays...looks decent and now I can see HDD activity from the side of the case.
