Help, I have Everything BUT a guide board. I can't think of any easy place to find a piece of scrap particle board.

Rep+ & eternal gratefulness to whoever can figure where i can easily get the material in the next 30 minutes (before i leave work)!

Edit - Fantastic Guide.

great guide - one thing I would add, that I have been using a lot lately, and makes a big difference, is the addition of cutting oil when cutting metals (tap fluid is fine). It makes a noticeable difference in the ease of cutting, the cleanliness of the cut edge, and the life of your tools and blades.

just thought i'd throw that in

Shucks. I've been at work for the past 48 hours. I missed this duffsr. Sorry. For what its worth, you don't need particle board. Any material that will help hold your bit steady will work, so long as its big enough to support the hole, and a couple three clamps to hold it down.

As far as where to find scrap wood cheap, not so sure. Maybe the bargain bin at a hardware store? Garage Sale? you could buy crappy even broken furniture on the -dirt- cheap. Much of that is made with explodaboard (that's what my wife calls particle board) anyway.

Excellent advice CattleRustler. The only experience I have with cutting oil so far is with tapping threads. I will vouch its a godsend there. I'll be sure to document its use on my next hole saw endeavor; and update the guide accordingly.

Thanks for the contribution!

I think $20-30 is about as cheap as you can find them. Go ahead and get the more expensive quality ones, I got a cheap set (from like .5" - 4.5" holesaws) and there were utter junk .

Ahh well I asked because All I can find is sets on ebay, and they go up to 4 and then 5 and skip 4.5 but I did see some for 30 or 35 somewhere for just the one.

Anyone have a link/place in the US I could order one at?

Thanks
