Default advice and ideas on my cm690?

i have a few ideas floating around, but im always open to others suggestions, maybe making a nice compilation of the best ones. gonna throw another 9600gt, as well as update my PSU first, so i have a bit of time for the planning stages. here is what he looks like now.

now im thinking, side window of some kind, but i dont want a normal ol' square. something fresh. im gonna stick to air cooling, because i just cant afford to water cool it. otherwise, lets hear some ideas!

Well, the window for sure. That helps the look of these cases a bunch. You can order one of Egg if you don't feel like doing the work.

Next, I'd say paint! The inside looks much better painted then the stock color IMO. I painted my 690 a glossy black on the inside, and I love the way it turned out.

Another idea, replace the stock 120mm fans with some UV or LED high CFM fans. It adds a very nice look overall, and cools the case even better!

Lastly, get rid of the ugly white CD drive. Man that looks ugly in there..

Here's my CM 690 after most of the mods I listed above..

rep for such a pretty case. lol. well ya the white is gonna go, soon as i get my blu-ray im gonna swap it out. thats from a 7 year old dead gateway :P. needed a dvd-rom and didnt (still dont) have an extra 20 bucks >.> question. when you painted the inside, about how long was she out of commission? i have 1 rig, and im pretty much addicted to warcraft. so a week out of commission, theres a possiblity of it killing me. im hoping your gonna tell me, i can paint it in the morning, let it dry and be ready to reassmble no later then the next morning, but the night would be preferable, or give me some sort of idea as to what i can do while i wait for her to re commission? and yes i was thinking about that side window, mainly because i dont trust my dremel hand. i know i would screw up whatever i did. as for the LED idea, with 3 blue fans ( a 4th being in that window if i get it, i think thats gonna be plenty of blue, in fact, i was thinking about changing all the colors over to a green, kind of match my color scheme, but, damn all, i dont want to take off that stuipd CPU cooler again. at least, no more then i have to. if anything, that thing is gonna be the reason i decide to go to water cooled lol. seriously its such a pain, just to say, change the fans, i have to take the whole mobo out, which means pulling all the pens and connectors as well. and if only you knew how hard that was with like an inch between the top fans and the cpu cooler. . shoul have though about that eh?

it should probably take a week or two for paint. takes about 48 hours to fully dry. i did one coat.. sit for 2 days. another coat.. 2 days. comes out realy good. think what i did was.. primer (1 day) primer (1 day) paint (2 day) paint (2 day) paint (2 day) clear (1 day) clear (1 day).. so about 10 days..

dont let it sit for less than a day or two. paint will come off easily if not dried properly and will stick to eachotehr if its not dry too. best to let the case sit outside for a day or two too. unless u wanna get high from the smell of paint. lol

window is pretty easy. you can live without a side panel. but side panel should just be a few hours work.

simplest mod or anything u should do with any case.. is tidy up those cables! there is a hole next to the psu for a reason haha @_@

A week or two for paint?
I painted mine during the day on saturday, and by sunday morning I had it all put back together??
I used quick drying Epoxy Enamel, which takes about 20mins per coat to dry. I didn't put clear coat on, I didn't figure I really needed it.

@ Vlasov
You need to tidy up your case in a bad way! Those cables are killing some serious air flow!

@ian, what kind of paint did you use and where did you get it? and i guess ill just have to find an old case i can buy from someone, or a cheap one from the store, but im budget damnit >.< i have this old logsys case that i was using before... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811148030

but when i started building this computer the motherboard i have didnt exactly line up with the holes on the case. rather then forcing them to work i decided to get a new case, which i wanted to do anyway, but i wanted to buy it and have my computer already running so i could take the time and paint it. >.> that didnt work so now i gotta figure it out. i think i have decided to just oust my gemin2 and put a WC system in. something functional, quality, and on the budget what i think im going to do is get my watercooling parts, something to put the computer in while im painting the case, and the paint and do it all at once. about the door, i think im just gonna buy that one off the egg, if they still have it n stock when i get paidlol.

ya i know about the wires :P but like i said, this is pretty much temporary, i ddnt want to do all that, then un do it, then do it again. you know. the lazy factor :P

That is step one. Cable management. Maybe cut some holes to route wires behind the mobo, like mine.
