Well i ended up with a day off work today and decided i may as well fill it with a bit of tinkering!

Having finally gotton the RMA sorted on XFX 780i after a SATA controller fault, i decided to go P35 and picked up a p35 dark lanparty, by DFI. Before rebuilding though decided to sort some long overdue cable management and following a quick call to my buddy simon at sprayteck, decided to give it the midnight black look by painting the whole shell jet black to give it the whole stealth bomber look!

this is how it was previously

Bit of a tangled mess, so now im going for a single card system, i decided to start the cable management and a PSU flip.

i started by stripping away the cowling and all the bits not needed for now.

made some initial marks for the PSU flip and the interior holes.

here's some of the goodies waiting for a new home, still no GFX card yet, still deciding on either a single 9800gtx or a gx2.

here's the sexy as hell black PCB dfi board.

I'm actually posting this at the end of the day so all the case is now complete and painted and ready for buildding which im doing over the next few hours, watch this space!!!

Ok well it looks like i left the x clamp on the back of my 780i board so i can't fit my T.R.U.E, dammit!!!!

Anybody know were i can get a new one?

Anyways here comes the piccys, i used to work in a bodyshop that my friend still runs so it's handy having a dedicated car body painter on hand whenever required!!

And here's the finished product, with the psu flip cut in the base and some 'ghetto' foot extensions to give more clearance for the psu to blow hot air out.

And despite the fact i can't finish it today i couldn't resist a test mounting!!!

This is a problem at the moment, the front panel won't fit on with the fan in place, so i may well need some spacers or a different cooling soloution for cooling the two sata drives. The flip really helps keep the inside of the case free from clutter though.

updated, as said can't fit my thermalright heatsink yet because i think i've left the black xclamp on the back of my old 780i board which sucks, so if anybody knows were i can get one, or even has one they can sling over to me for some paypal courtesy that'd be cool.

I'm not deciding on a gfx card until me and the missus come back from Spain on the 3rd May so theres no rush i guess.

Thats looks killer!!!!! I had the same problem when I flipped my HDDs. I bought a few of these http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=4475

I used them on my setup and they worked out great.

Like the flipped HDD idea.Very clean look on the case.Might give that a try and do that to my 3 HDD's.
