Default Cold cathalode lights, dangrous?

I've bought a green logisys CCLK not but a month ago, a few days ago i was looking at the tube, and at the end of the tube where the wiring goes into has come lose and started to fall out.

I thought "no big deal." -pushes back in-

Today i was looking at the other end of the tube without the wires, and a protective covering over the CC itslef seems to have fallen off, and is now glowing and burned into the end of the tube.

I'm guessing i'm going to have to trash this.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

It is.. Cathodes are really cheap. I have snapped one in half before!

Cathodes are thin glass light bulbs inside of plastic casing. The platic casing is for protection.

Same here. I bought my first pair of cold cathodes just after the new year. Opened the box and was pissed to see one of the plastic caps come right off. Plugged her in and haven't had a problem since. I run my rig 24/7 and still no issues.
