Is it possible to move all of my components out of a generic compaq case into a custom one? Guessing no.

Yes you can, a matx board will mount into a atx motherboard. I believe compaq still uses matx.

Actually a great question (seriousl). As long as the motherboard screws line up with the custom case ones (they should), your good to go. I don't see why you can't.

Although i heard compaq uses something with their motherboards that prevent you from doing this?
