So I've read through a bunch of painting guides and other people asking questions but I still have some.
1) What is the best type of spray paint im looking for? (I live near a Home Depot, Ace Hardware and a Lowe's so I have lots of options) 2) If im only painting the interior, do I need to do any sanding, if so where/when and what grit? 3) How many cans should I buy to be safe that I have enough? 4) Is there anything I should be aware of that will suprise me when im doing this? I want this to look the best possible, so Im trying to do everything right the first time. Thanks for all the help, ill post a work log when I actually do this. Im waiting till late May or June to work when school is out. Im looking to do some cable managment.

1) I'd go for some Krylon or Rustoleum.
2) I'd lightly scuff it up so it'd stick better. Don't really need to sand it. Just make sure you clean it. A 3M Scoth Brite pad would be plenty rough enough. 3) If just the inside, two cans should be enough with some left over. Depends how many coats you do. 4) It's a LOT better to do a lot of very thin coats than heavy. It looks better and avoids runs. Your first three coats should be so light that you should still see bare metal through the paint in some places. Keep your hand speed steady and your distance uniform, though. ![]()

thanks, one more thing though i frogot to ask. No one really says how many coats or specific ways to paint, so how many would you say it takes to get a nice even flat coat and is there a specific method i should use when spraying?

As for method, I paint cars, so I spray paint the same way. It's not the only way and it might not be the best way with spray paint, but it's how I do it and it always turns out pretty damn good. Just do lines and overlap about 25% over the last line of paint. Say that if, in your stance, you can paint an area of about three inches at a time ... do a line that is three inches. Go down 2-and-a-quarter inches (25%) and do your next line. You want it to overlap a bit so that you got get a ridge from where you stopped and started a new line. Hard to explain in text. :\

If you don't feel like disassembling everything (you have to do that to something things, though
) you can just tape off what you don't want painted. ![]()

Thats what i originally planned to do, but the ANtec 900 come apart almost completely leaving only the nasty metal exposed, so i might as well do it that way.
