Default My weekend Mozart TX paint job. (56K Warning)

Well, I sold my modded Antec 900 with all of its fans and etc and then bought the Mozart TX. I decided I didn't like the plain old aluminum on the inside and rear of the case and decided I'd murder it out with some ultra-flat black. This, by the way is only my second case paint job. Also, please excuse the lack of picture quality, as they were taken with my cell phone.

So anyway, this all took place during slow parts of my day working at my brother's computer store.
I went to the hardware store and picked up two cans of Krylon black metal primer, and two cans of ultra-flat black paint.

Gutted the entire case, it was quite a pain to remove all of the clips to take out the acrylic from the windows. Also, I had already had my sig rig installed in the case for a week before I decided to paint it, so I had to remove everything.

Now for the masking off and cleaning for primer preperation.

I did about three light coats of primer, and just continued until it was all gone. I waited about 25 minutes in between coats.

Ah, now for the paint. Once again I did light coats, until the cans were empty. Waited about 45 minutes in between each coat.

*The Next Day* All dry and unmasked. I never did any sanding and there were no visible scratches or flaws. The self-settling no run paint seemed to do well. I at first was going to do clear coat, but upon giving it a test run on a random piece of metal it took away from the flat black look I was after.

Now time for re-assembly.

Before attaching the doors I noticed despite my masking there was some blow over so I took a file and gently removed the paint.

All the fans installed.

Both doors on, acrylic windows not yet in place.

Mmm, had to clean the windows before they got put back on. They were pretty dusty and fingerprinted.

Putting the windows back on the doors turned out to be more of a pain then taking them off. The pins were really difficult to fit into the clips. It didn't help that there are about 15 per door.

Finally the doors and windows are all done.

Now everything is installed and I am giving it a little air before she is powered on.

Ah, all done. Here are the glamour shots.

And there I am on the left happy and satisfied. (My brother just had stick his face in the picture ahaha.)

So what do you guys think? It turned out a lot better than my Antec's paint job as it was my first. I feel the brushed aluminum really contrasts with the flat black and it looks good.

Excuse the unorganized wiring and stock fans. I am currently saving my paychecks to fill the 10 120mm spots with AeroCool White Led fans and 5 12" UV cathodes per door. I then also plan on making a micro-atx dedicated server on the reverse side of the case using my current processor and ram with the thermaltake 7'' touch screen monitor in the front drive bays to allow for a component free dedicated game server. I also plan on building a new quad core rig on the main side and watercooling. It will probably take all summer before I have everything done.

Well the actual paint looks pretty good.

I will never understand using that case without water, and you could seriously clean up the wiring.

You've got a great start though.

Also avoid aerocool fans. Horridly overspec'd and generally worthless. They look ok, and thats it.

Thanks, I think. The reason I got the case before I had a watercooled setup is because I got it for about $150 so I couldn't pass it up. Also, as I mentioned at the end of the thread I do plan to watercool it within a month or so. I also mentioned that the wiring is not tidied as well as it could be because I am going to be getting all new fans, SATA cables, etc within a week.
