Default Another Antec Nine Hundred (900) Cable Management Case Mod (56k Warning)

Hi every one. As the title states, I finally managed to find the time to mod my case. I decided to go for the cable mod, CPU + Heatsink lapping and I am also thinking about asking a friend to do a little paint work on the side panel.

Well, here are some pics of my system and the what I did to it. BTW before I start, I just wanna say that I did'nt have a digital camera handy, so I used my n73.

Before any modding

Holes to be made

Side panel to be covered

Anyone intending on doing this mod should do the smart thing and pass the cable ties BEFORE putting the board back in its place...

End result

As some of you may have noticed, I decided to add some things during the process; some lighting, the Zalman Fan Mate 2 cas of my noisy Delta Fan and, before I forget, my Sapphire HD 3870 x2 All in all im happy with the outcome.

What I would do differently next time:

- Larger holes, especially for the 24 pin near the PSU
- Taken more time to plan the holes
- Passed those frickin cable ties earlier

Conclusion:

To be completely honest, I havn't seen any drops in temps, not even with the lapping, but that may be cas of the Arctic Silver 5. The main reason why I did the mod was to turn the PSU upside down since I was gonna install the 3870 x2, so as far as Im concerned it was worth the effort.

Last but not least I would like to thank some people:

To start off with OCN members CyberDruid, Criswell and Run N. Gun for the idea, www.mnpctech.com for the supplies and Kevin from www.itss.com.mt for helping me get the rig sorted out and up and running. Also another OCN member and a close friend of mine urb4n, known by the local gaming community as d3m0, for introducing me to OCN and getting me into modding/ocing.

That's all from me. Hope you guys like what I did with my Antec 900 and any questions/suggestions are welcome

Looks good!

How did you add that 120mm fan without the HDD Cage thing?

Looks good only thing id suggest is maybe flip the hardrives so the wires are hidden.

Yeah the thought came to mind but was kinda afraid having the cables close to the fan...but i may look into it when I catch the modding fever again =)

Well done, T4B00!

I think what Kornowski was asking was in place of the second HDD cage, you have a fan in there, but no drive cage. The question is how is it secured to the front of the 900? I can see the fan in the second-from-the-bottom photo, but I'm not sure how it is secured.

Yeah, the wire tie holes were a lesson learned for me too. I actually drilled the holes first, then brain-farted and installed the mobo, heatsink, etc...only to have to rip it out and install the wire ties. LOL It happens.

I think it looks clean and well thought out. Great job!!

Thanks for all of the comments guys =)

Well about the top fan, it just clipped into the black plastic frame without screws and without any sort of cages..

Was great to here from you Run N. Gun since I really liked your work... and im happy to see that i wasnt the only to forget the ties but I managed to pass them without removing the board

Yeah well ive also started looking into the hdd cable mod just to get it a little more cleaner...
