Well my case is getting kinda boring. I've decided a revamp is in place
. So here's what I'm thinking.I want to paint the entire interior black of my case. Hopefully the same black as the exterior (shiny black). And I want to add diamondplate aluminum (painted the same black as well) to cover any wiring that is seen. Here's an illustration of before and a poor MSPaint job of the potential add ons. What do you guys think? Anywhere I could still add more diamondplate so it looks good? I still want to see all my pretty lights, I just don't want to see any wiring that can be helped. Before (ignore SATA cables): ![]() After (poor MS Paint job): ![]()

I forgot to mention:
The cover plate to the right of the PSU is going to somewhat overlap the one to the right of the motherboard. They'll be about an inch, inch and a half seperated. Also: ALL of these will be removeable via bolt / nuts. I will also be adding a new top to the case, directly below the original top, for added stability (probably out of regular aluminium)...it'll be what the PSU wire covering and possibly the drive hider will be mounting to on the top. I don't want to see ANY bolts with it all assembled, and I think this will work well.

gonna be alotta work, time, and probably bit of money. At the very lest you're gonna need a Dremel(or a B&D RTX, same same) and a bunch of reinforced fiber cut-off blades(which aren't particularly cheap), A drill, some good drill bits, and really should tap(thread) all of the holes but it's not necessary. That's AT LEAST a $100-200 in equipment. Granted you will be able to use all of that stuff over and over again, and are pretty much life savers to have around in general...
If you have the patience, time, and most importantly, the money, go for it! lol. Overall though I think it's a great idea and will add alot of flare to an already good looking case!

I love the look of black painted diamond plate.
![]() Having some experience working with the stuff, I can tell you that "cleanly" bolting diamond plate panels to something else can be a bit of a pain some times. It seems there is always a raised tread bit right where you want to place a bolt. The end state is that your bolts are always wandering off kilter and looking uneven and crooked. I ended up using a larger drill bit to shave away a pseudo countersink for clearance when I was working on m998. (I can dig up a picture if I didn't explain that very well) I'll also second the thread tap idea. If your dad doesn't have it, you should be able to pick up a tap, bit, and wrench for around 15 bucks, make it an even 20 if you need to grab a bottle of cutting oil too. Well worth it. I found that fumbling around on the front and back side of all your panels to cinch down a nut and bolt fastener system gets to be very tedious after a while. Another alternative, which sounds cheesy but really holds very well is simple velcro tabs that you can pick up at K-mart or wherever. I used it for the drivebay/PSU covers on m998, and really had to tug on it to remove those panels. I was surprised how well it held. Either way, it sounds very cool. Keep us posted! ![]()

will you have enough room under the false floor to hide cables?
![]() looks good, great cable management idea. If this works I may have to steal an idea or two ![]()
