Well, I have a TI-84+. I have recently gotten into BASIC programming for it, so I use it a lot more. I need to backlight it!
So I did some research, and it appears that EL panels would work very well, to just slip behind the LCD. The problems are where to buy, how to install and wire it, finding an inverter small enough to fit inside the calculator somewhere, and not destroying my calculator ![]() So any advice? P.S., where the heck should I put this thread? This seemed like the best place...

I read about a fully modded calc, like paint, keyboard, mouse and so on. What they did was just wire two ultra bright leds to the edges of the LCD and directly wired it to the battery pack. Hope that helps.

I saw some with LEDs too, but they used a thin mirror underneath, and a piece of acrylic between the screen and mirror. That seemed too complicated to me compared to an EL panel.

Hahaha, we live close to each other, but no
![]() I wouldn't do this personally as I transfer my programs to my TI-84+ and to my TI-83+ if I need too. I wouldn't want to kill my batteries as I have my screen brightness down to like 6 or the least visible option that's still visible to save my bats .All programs are archived and stored on my PC with groups made as a backup on the calc if I unarchive my programs if I work on them ![]()

Well I want to do it, because I hate having to turn on a light to see whats on my calculator
![]() I was going to install a potentiometer (like a fan controller) to control the brightness of the EL panel, to save batteries when the lights are on, like in math class.
