Wooden case?
Has this been attempted?
I thought it would be a cool summer job to make a case out of wood. Is there a downside? Would a wood encloser be warmer than metal? (with airflow of course)

Just throw aluminum foil in the microwave and set it to bake for a few minutes.

you want a completely wooden case or you can use wood veneer and use contact cement if you like alot less work,ive been doing wood working for many years and have just about every tool but if it were me thats what id do,to many changes in temps and mosture will affect its integrety,exspanding and contracting,imo

It's been done and I've heard it it's ridiculously hard to get things like disk drives to fit properly...
