Default Dremel Advice Needed!

I'm looking to get a dremel for case mods, ect. I'm thinking a 300 is good? Also, which tool kit should I get? What attachments/attachment kits do I need to get for case modding? I've heard I will need a flex shaft, is this true? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The 300 series are pretty good . I own the exact same one and it takes care of most jobs for me.

The toolkit greatly depends on what kind of modding you are trying to do. If you are going to be cutting acrylic then you may also need to get the straight bit router and the dremel 561 routing bits.

I have found most of the drill bits and cut off wheels that come with the dremel pretty useless. Most of them are of very cheap quality.

I would personally get this : 300-1/55 300 Series Variable-Speed Tool Kit because it has a circle cutting attachment and also the 561 bit.

Depending on your budget. You might want to get the simplest of ones and then buy the accessories as you need them

Also buy a pack of fiberglass reinforced cutting wheels. You will need them if you plan on cutting up your case

EDIT: You dont really need a flex shaft until you plan on using the dremel in extremely cramped spaces. You can cut an almost perfect circle using the dremel itself
I have seen people use the flex shaft for engraving because it is easier to hold and control

Yes looks like it. You might also want to check local hardware stores like Lowes or Home Depot. I guess walmart also carries them. You may be able to find it cheaper.

my advice is go with the 400XPR dremel. its 2 amps as opposed to 1.5 and has replaceable motor brushes. I got that one in the 6/90 kit and it comes with the flexishaft, and a jigsaw attachment, plus a bunch of other useful attachments for the house, and a slew of bits and such. I think that kit was $127 US (Dremel XPR 400 6/90)

good luck
