I have an idea for my rocketfish to cut 4 holes in the top, put four switches like this in the holes, and wire them in such a way that when I flip a blue switch, blue lights come on. When I flip a red one, red lights come on and so on. However, I'm puzzled on how to power and mount the LEDs. Can I take power from my pc? Should I take regular outlet power? How can I get a cheap way to mount LEDs without them looking really conspicuous (preferably something like many holes in a narrow PVC pipe, that's my only idea so far). Thanks.

you can power your leds from the cpu power supply, but you will need resistors based on the amount of leds you have, or find kits that are already wired for the resistance.

as for mounting them, are you trying to light the inside of your case? or have an exterior trim? if it's exterior, drill holes that the leds can slip into from inside the case and super glue them in the holes. if internal, mount them in the top and bottom of the case where you can't actually see the leds, but you can see the light

I would say get prewired leds like these http://www.frozencpu.com/products/64...l?tl=g6c77s121 If you don't know how to wire led's because its not just as simple as buying leds and plugging them in, but these are prewired.

You can comfortably power the leds from within the case itself. LED wiring is not as difficult as it seems. And is also considerably cheaper than buying prewired ones

As for mounting them it really depends. If you have a small piece of aluminum or acrylic lying around you can drill holes into that and stick the leds to it using some glue. that way you can also manage the wires better.

Once done just mount the plate to line up with the 4 holes in your case.

bad Idea to go with those switches. The color LED on the switch will light up only when you flip it into ON position, therefore you wont know what color that switch belongs to. Look for something that stays lit-up all the time good luck

Thanks for this. However, I know my basic circuit physics and can calculate that fine. I was just wondering how to power it as in...connect to 4pin molex? Or...motherboard somehow? I don't know what's normally done.
