Default WorklogCreator Updated to version 1.0.0.9

Ok guys, new round of updates. I explained what I was doing a few posts up so here's the brief version:

-unlocked multiselect drag and drop ability: now you can drop any number of image files onto the main preview area, but please note, the order of the drop may not be the same order in which you selected, and non image files in the selection group are ignored (files not .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png)

-added a clear selections button: clicking this button clears the selection check marks from all of the items in the preview pane

-added a move up and move down button: these buttons affect one selected item only. you can clear selections, then select the item to be moved, then use the buttons to order the image correctly in your worklog. This feature was added since I cant control drop order when dropping multiple images into the preview. if you have more than one item selected the move buttons will do nothing until only one item is selected

-fixed scrolling in preview pane: now when you mouse wheel scroll in the preview pane it actually works

-fixed multiple selected item deletion: now when you delete multiple selected images the deleteion routine will delete all items that were selected. previously, it could be the case that not all items were deleted, and would remain in the preview with the selection still set. this has been corrected

download from sig link
let me know of any odd behavior
cheers

I'm certainly looking to.

I have a Cooler Master Mystique 632S coming to me soon, which will likely be my very first case mod subject. If I don't mod that first, I'll mod my Raidmax Smilodon a little further as a means to "break myself in" and get a little comfortable. As of current I've really only swapped out two of the main door's LEDs with RGB chasing ones (to match my tri-color fans).

I'm not completely certain of what I plan on doing to the 632S, but I feel like doing stuff with black/grey acryllic windows combined with UV red paint and UV.. or just red cathodes. Case color would be a metallic black with metallic red accents. I have a vague vision of what I want in my head, but the real challenge is making it happen.

the problem with photobucket and my app is my app expects paths to local image files, and a url to where they are uploaded on the web (path to single folder), and assumes the file names locally and on the web are the same. this is what allows it to work the way it does.

In the case of photobucket type sites, the uploading and file naming are handled by them (iirc), so what the app would need is a way to add images to the worklog that are already urls. This gives me an interesting idea, and a couple of things to look into.

I think I thought of a way to make this work with things like photobucket, etc. well, actually I thought of a few ways but some were more elaborate than others, but I will pose a simple solution below, and if sizeak and anyone else thats interested in this app working with "bucket" image hosting could chime in and give me their thoughts, that would be helpful considering the app does everything now that I need it to do, and that has been requested and I could easily feeze development here and feel proud

anyway, first I am assuming a couple of things here, so correct me on these points if I am wrong (this pertains only to bucket hosted images, not people with their own web space who can make use of the FTP portion of the app)

- you take pics and at some point have them as local image files on your computer
- you upload them to an image host with no prior knowledge of what the url (path and file name) will be once its uploaded

if both of those are correct I think I have a solution...

what if you used the app with the local versions of the files and built the worklog (preview, not the output yet) then, what if each preview item had a field where you could paste in the URL that correlates to that local image? for example the local file is C:\MyPics\MyMod01\myPic008.jpg (and thats whats used in the app to display the images etc) but in the same item in the preview you pasted in the url from your browser for that uploaded pic (we dont care what it is as long as its valid, and matches that pic) like h t t p://someImageSite/mypicsxyzabc/img76102997483.jpg...

if this all sounds ok so far, then what I could do is also record this additional data in the worklog storage file. then, when I am building the output that is eventually pasted into your worklog post on this site, I could check for the url value being present for the item, if it is I would use the url in the output, if not I would use the upload path and filename how it works now for local files ftp'd to know web space location with same file name

is any of this making sense? I hope so because I think it could work. Anyone who can offer some input, that would be great

thanks

just a note: with many image hosts (such as photobucket) the initial part of the image URL is the same for each image uploaded by that user (e.g. http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o34/radodrill/ )this is followed by any sub-directories and the image name. So you might be able to have a default user root variable, then have a path sub-directory for the project and image name (or just define the sub-structure/image name to the user root location).

rado thanks for that bit of info, very helpful, I went to that link and it solidified my idea

I see what your saying how part of the url will always be static, but since one of the items you can copy and paste is the direct link, which includes the previous part of the path, theres no need to store any part of it in the worklog, or settings, as you suggested with the root var. good idea but not needed here methinks, since theres no way to know it completely (the url) until after the fact, eliminates the need to store ahead of time any part of it - the user still needs to paste something. Its cleaner and less prone to error for them to just grab each full url and add them to the local preview items. cheers tho mate

Im gonna have a look at the code and see how much damage it will be to read/write this extra data from the WL storage file, and how the conditional would occur on the output, not to mention the custom control will need to be edited to have the new field etc

Could you not do it similar to the ftp method you use atm, but access the folder with http instead, using the static folder name ie http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh228/sizeak/
then display a form to browse through the pic in this folder, and select them, which would put the full url of the selected image in the worklog?

I hope that made sense

I could but then I'd have to revamp a ton of stuff all over the place, not to mention that method internally assumes known file names, youd still have to edit, so its not worth the work involved

do the local files, and bucketed files have the same file name? (not incl path)
if so that may be true for photobucket, but not all sites are like that, and do some whacky stuff to the naming and paths

anyway Ive started on the updates for 1.0.1.0, but we'll chat mare tomr before I continue

later peeps - Ghost Hunters season premier >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
