Default Lian Li Underdoor

Alright - here's the plan. I don't know if it has / hasn't been done before, but I want to do it. The plan is to rewire the eject button and stealth mod the DVD drive my way: I want to have the door fold down and then have the tray come out. I was thinking something like this terrible, terrible drawing (original source newegg, if you can't tell. )

All the way on the right...

The small rectangle is the original slot cover (what you would use to cover a drive for the stealth mod) and the larger one is the cd tray.

My idea for the current moment is this: get some sort of hinge mounted so that the door freely falls down when pushed by the tray with my little incline idea (if it will even work) and then I can push it back up when I close the cd tray.

My question is this: What kind of hinge do I use?

I could find a place to mount it, but where could I find a hinge small enough?

Also, could I find a semi-locking device for the door that would be easily pushed out by the tray but would stay when the door is pushed back into place?

Thanks in advance,
James

For hinges I'd try a hobby shop; particularly one that caters to R/C airplanes

What would probably be better than a latch would be to use a return spring to hold the cover in the upright position, when the CD tray roes out it'll push it down, and when it is retracted the door will be pulled back up to the stealth orientation.

Great idea, but only one problem - Wouldn't the door, as it's trying to pull itself up due to the spring, get caught by the tray?

Maybe not. As soon as I build it I'll test that idea out.

you might just have to remove the front bezel from the CD tray; but the idea is that while the tray is out it will hold the stealthing door down.

Alrighty.

Well, today I'm heading out to a local RC airplane/car store and I'll see what they have. Hopefully I find something good.

Edit: I'm doing more research before I head out to the shop, and I found a small spring hinge. If I can get it just a bit smaller... http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_...s.asp?Cat=1106

Although the original question could still be valid, if the OP wanted a perfectly clean bezel. The C01-B bezel does have a button and such...it would be neat if it looked a bit more invisible though
