If you`re drilling a 3/4 inch hole that little cordless you have won`t cut it. You`ll need a corded drill with a unibit (one of those "stepped" drill bits someone talked about). However, a unibit of decent quality is expensive, a minimum of $40. The cheap ones break. You might get off cheaper using a 1/2 inch knockout tool like the electricians use for making holes in electric boxes. That size can usually be bought separately (not in a whole set) for about $15, but it makes a 7/8 inch hole instead of 3/4 inch.

Your drill will be fine. The guy who said take it slow is right. Get the drill going full speed, then push gently through the case. Let the drill do the work of cutting through the material, dont try to force it or get it done quickly. The faster that bit is moving, the better. It'll make a cleaner cut, at the expense of taking a little longer. It also wont jam up on jagged metal pieces when you push the drill through the steel. If you go quickly and forcefully it can bind up, as it didnt get a chance to make a good cut.

oh, safety goggles ftw. flying metal pieces = bad for eyes.
