So i just got my rocketfish case yesterday from BB for $49.
And i going to mod the hell out of it. but first wanted to ask you "pros" a few questions before i mess something up. I don't have a dremel atm, but i do have a grinder. Would that work too, or would it be better if i just went out and spend the money for one. I'm planning to cut some aluminum and cast acrylic, what kind of cutting disk do i need? I got a jig saw too, happen to know what kind of blades i need for aluminum and acrylic cutting? And last question, i'll put cutting blow holes for fans on top of my case, what size drill bit will i need for the holes? Thx for the help in advance. <3

I only have a drill/jigsaw and a rotary (use it as a big dremel) that I occasionally use.
Never use a dremel much so I can't comment on the disc's you would need, although I see alot of the dremel'ers recommend the reinforced cutting discs. For metal cutting with a jigsaw ( I use my jigsaw more than my other tools) I recommend a good bi-metal blade, at least a few packs. 20+tpi is the typical recommendation, if I recall correctly. For fan holes, you need a 4.5" holesaw, and a powerful drill. You can also use the jigsaw to cut the fan holes, but know that he cut won't be as accuarte (and if you cut like me) lop-sided,lol. That helps some. ![]() And fwiw, I use my skill-saw to cut my acrylic. Wait for the other modders to comment on what dremel attachment to use for that. ![]()

Ahh, thx so much for those info, sure help me out alot.
![]() Edit: But do you happen to know what kind of blade for the skillsaw? Oh, and to clarify on one of my question, by drill size for the fans... i was wanting to know what size drill bit for the screw holes. Thx

For the most part I use a jigsaw for cutting acrylic; I find that high-TPI metal blades provide the best cuts.
Dremels are good to have particularly for detail work; but they aren't the right tool for everything.

side note on Dremel, besides the reinforced cutting disks (1.5") for metal, they also make them for plastics, but I havent tried that yet. And both types come in screw mandrel or EZLock types.

if youre only dealing with cutting disks EZLock is immensly better. But unfortunately when using other items you will need the supplied screw mandrel and swap out stuff here and there since most dremel stuff uses that system. I need to get a few mandrel and keep my most used bits mounted on their own madrels, so when switching I only need to swap mandrels, not the screw part. I also picked one of those "chuck" things which replaces the collet and the need for the little wrench but I found that it began slipping during use, so I switched back the hand tightened collet lock. Overall I love the dremel but theres a few things they could improve. If you havent bought one yet but do decide to, do yourself a favor and get the XPR 400. Its corded and has higher amps than all the others. I got a kit that had the 400 and 90 bits and 6 attachment kits all in one kit - including the flexi shaft (best part of the dremel) and the multi saw, among other things. Iirc it was the 400 XPR 6/90 kit and was 127$ on amazon.
