I have a Variable Speed MultiPro Dremel.
I want to be able to cut 120mm homes in my aluminum case, cut acrylic, engrave/cut out designs in the case, and sand it all down. What should I pick up? This thing is ancient, the very first model they made, looks different from the one currently on their website with the same name; I have not yet the original attachments it had, so assume I have nothing.

Hi.
You're gonna have a rip-roaring fun time! For circles you will need this attachment: ![]() The piece that is in the lower right-hand corner is a straight-edge guide. Oftentimes the 2 come bundled together. You will also need sideways bits: ![]() To clean the inner edge, this helps immensely: ![]() Since you are working with metal and alloy, you may want to get a bastard-file, or strong emery board to clean burrs. ![]()

for 120mm fan holes do yourself a favor and get a 4.5 inch bi-metal hole saw blade for a power drill. You have a drill don't you? If not, and dremel is only thing you have then pick up a pack of 1.5" reinforced cutting disks. They have an ez-lock system for that (special mandrel) and the disks for it. Or they have plain disks that you attach to your current mandrel via that little screw.
Acrylic is a different story. They do make 1.5" disks for Plastics but I havent tried them yet

CR brings up a good point.
Hole-saws are better suited for your application, but can be costly... and dangerous if care is not taken. Was it Androo that gouged his hand something fierce...? The Dremel will work, but it will be slow going.

A 4.5'' hole saw with the arbor is about $35.

Hole saws are great! I cut all my fan holes using them.

yep, just make sure the arbor fits your drill (if drill is 3/8 drive make sure arbor is not 1/2 drive or it wont fit)
and most importantly, a pair of safety goggles/glasses its all fun and games 'til someone goes and puts an eye out ![]() seriously tho

If you get a holesaw make sure you have a strong drill. Preferably one that plugs into a wall outlet. All the cordless drill's I've used lacked the torque to cleanly finish a cut with a holesaw in metal.
![]() I really like my jigsaw, but the dremel would do jsut as much stuff (and more) than a jigsaw would do. I agree with Syrillian, get a bastard file. Preferably one with a rounded side for filing fan holes. And a good set of screwdrivers is often-times the overlooked toolset. A nice set of screwdrivers (smaller ones preferably) are invaluable (to me at least) ![]()
