Can anyone point me to a metal tapping kit that will include the sizes I need for the following
- Standard pc case screws (like the ones that hold on panels, and psu mounts) - Standard pc mobo stand-offs (yeah, those )I am looking around on mcmaster but I am not sure with this. I will need to tap light guage aluminum, but if a kit can do both steel and aluminum, that would be great thanks for your help

I believe most of the screws for PCs are 6-32 thread; TBH just about any tap will cut threads in steel, you just have to be sure to pre-drill the hole at the correct size.

ok thanks rado +
can anyone confirm 6-32 for both of those or are they different sizes. And what is the pilot hole size for both of these? (noob at this, sorry)

Just double checked; the 2 common threads in PCs are 6-32 and 4-40
Here's a link to a tap & drill table oftentimes individual taps at Lowe's will include the correct drill. the 4-40 uses a #43 drill; but a 5/64" may work as well 6-32 uses a #36 drill; 7/64 may be a valid alternate.

none taken; it never hurts to get a second opinion or to test stuff out on scrap material before doing it for real.

having too much fun

Pick yourself up a can of dark cutting oil, there's a million brands. It costs a couple bucks, but a single drop on your tap before you cut will make your taps last 100X longer, greatly reduce the chance of breakage, and make a cleaner, more precise thread. My personal favorite is TapMagic, works well for steel and aluminum, but they have an aluminum formulation as well.
