Default Painting Question

hey fellas,
I'm in the process of painting my case and ran into concern. First let me tell you, I've prepd area perfectly, I'm an amazing sander, and I primed it. My prime consisted of 3 coats (3-4 light sprays = coat for me) and I was getting ready to do color.

The problem is the can says.... 2 coats( I was gonna do 3) applied within 1 hr and dries to be handled in 3, well I been sanding after every coat. This would mean waiting 3 hrs BUT it also says if not applied in 1 hour then wait 7 days and well I don't want to do that cause take 3 month... So would it hurt anything not to wait the seven days I couldn't honk of any but figured I'd ask...

Sorry for semi long post but wanted to give all the needed info

I would follow what the can says. If youve already applied a color coat just wait the week, then be ready to do lots of coats on the 8th day.

what brand of paint is it? Krylon has a similar thing but its high end wait is only 24 hours not 7 days lol

I want to paint the inner side of my case matte black (like P182SE). Can you give me some tips, or you know any good tutorial I could read to see what material I need and how to prepare and paint it? I'm trying to start a project, and I would like to be well prepared before starting it, to avoid messing up

Cheers

With a satin black interior...
Zinc Chromate or etch primer (available in spray bombs): No sanding required for good adhesion on aluminum or steel but sanding with 800G or scuffing with maroon or grey scotch pad won't hurt. Blow out the dust and lightly wipe with a tack cloth. Apply minimal coats as recommended.
Apply 2 coats satin/flat/eggshell black or the ''bumper black'' that is available at automotive parts stores.
Allow to dry properly. Sand lightly with 600-800 (1000 is acceptable but to fine a finish reduces adhesion)to remove the zibs (or bumps from the dust particles. Clean well, tack rag and respray.
A filling primer isn't actually necessary or helpful. The more coats you apply the thicker the overall primer/paint gets and is more prone to chip.

All right, thanks for the info (I would +rep ) I'll work on getting the equipment to begin ASAP, and post the project on the forum when I'm about to start.

Cheers

The Duke knows his stuff! Spent some time painting cars have we?

I spent 7 years painting cars professionally and this ^ is good advice. If you have to wait a week to recoat, you're better off removing what you've already put on and starting over. Remember, the single most important part of painting is the cleaning. Any grease, oil, silicone, water, and your paint won't stick.

...my question would be why are you sanding after every coat? Unless you're using urethane on wood, it's not necessary.

What are the parts made of that you're painting? What kind of paint are you using, spray paint?

The rule of thumb usually is: the company that made the paint probably knows more about it than anyone else, so it's best to follow the directions they provide.
