Case Modder
|
My current build is going to need some custom fashioned parts for the electrical system since the project doesnt start from any existing pc case. Currently I am concerned with the parts I need to make whats normally found on the front face panel of a pc case:
hdd led (specs?) pwr led (specs?) 1,2,3,4 pin connectors that connect the wiring from the above, and the pwr and reset switches, to the mother board pins does anyone have a source for these type of electrical parts. I have a Jameco link but the problem with that site is they have no pictures and Im not to familiar with these parts by name thanks

Jameco should have links to the datasheets that have product diagrams.
The places I've shopped at before are Jameco, mouser, Newark, digi-key, and allelectronics. Jameco, mouser, Newark, and dig-key have a vast assortment of products; while allelectronics' selection is more limited, but their site has pictures of most of the items. Of the sites I've mentioned, Jameco and allelectronics tend to have the better prices.

I think the easiest solution would be just to grab some off an existing case. I have a box of parts from other cases with pre-wired header leds (hdd, pc on, etc). Might be worth saving the time to recycle some.

Forgot to mention: the MB headers for PWR LED and HDD LED supply 5V; so you'd need either LEDs rated for 5V or a resistor in series with an LED.

The plugs and pins are there. You get a choice of momentary plugs for power and reset. Any LED can be used as long as it is rated for around 3.3v
