here are two pics of the side panel on one of my cases i'm trying to paint. if you look at the side angle you see some light spots. when you look at the panel from the top the spots are dark. i started over, sanding it back down, primered it again, and tried again but the same thing happened. it's not in the same places but there are these random spots that i can't get rid of. the primer looked even, i did a wet/sand after every coat. first time i even tried putting extra coats of paint over and over trying to get the spots to go away but to no avail.

Not sure what that is. but it could be grease or oil from your hand that prevents the primer from adhering to the panel. Clean the panel up with some isopropyl alcohol before you start priming

it kinda looks like overspray or an uneven coat to me. when your painting are you making your passes the full length of the panel?
i dont think its oil because that would be more of a defined shaped

Self-etching primer (not the kind that I have experience with, but it is similar). Here is some blurb. An automotive paint store will have what you need. It might even be wise to run the panel down to a local paint store to ask them what is happening.

I would just give it a general sanding (320-400grit) till the coat is even, then go with another coat or two of primer. And as mentioned, try cleaning the area with alcohol just to be on the safe side. ![]()
