Default Gateway Case Mod

I have a case that's a gateway, I don't know the exact name / model of the case, but it looks like this:

EDIT: This isn't mine, this specific picture is from "Phoenix"; my case is in almost perfect condition

What I'm tempted to do is...
  • Paint it a glossy red.
  • Add Pillars to the 4 sides of the case so it will have a bit of leverage from the bottom
  • Add a side window (cut out parts of the existing side?)
  • Add some kind of metal decal to the front (angel wings? Something that looks cool)
  • Intelligent Fan placement
  • Make an attachment on the other side for my monitor, perhaps allowing the monitor to clip onto the side?
  • A handle at the top, so it's easier to carry around!

Got any suggestions?
Would this work out good?
Where should I place my fans in this case?
Where can I get the supplies?
This is my first case mod, so be nice!

Well, you said thanks for all the pics, but you never PM'd me to ask to use them.

That's ok though, at least you linked where they came from. When I first clicked in I thought someone was just trying to steal my log

For some of your plans - Two 120mm front fans are very possible with this case but you will be limited to 80mm's in the back. As far as cooling.

The handle, Be sure you attach it somehow to the CASE itself. The top panel is plastic and just slides on. If you attach it to the plastic cover, it will break it (I broke a spare cover this way by lifting the case by it, not paying attention to what I was doing. )

I'm subb'd!

Ah, sorry.
I knew I probably should have asked you to use the pictures, but I wanted to get it posted so bad, sorry about that!
One thing I'm curious about, is taking sure all of the parts fit, which if they don't, I can always do some more modding
I'm kind of worried about how much this will cost me, but if it looks nice at the end I guess it won't matter!
I was wondering about some kind of cooling for the bottom, and the top.
Getting my grahpics card air to pump out of the bottom would probably be a good idea, and then pull the rest of the air out of the case from the top, what kind of fans would you suggest?
What would you suggest for the front and back?
I would love for my case to be quiet; so perhaps fans that have a cooling : quiet ratio?

Well, I'm assuming the 9600GT is a dual slot card (they don't even come in a single slot version do they? <gpu noob) so it will vent air outside by itself.

I assume you've went through my log since you grabbed a few pics, I can say that my bottom 120mm turbine is just at the level to blow over/onto my dual slot ATi card. Which keeps the bottom cool. And the top 92mm is above the card to it blows into the mobo area. Then the 3 80mm's in the back pull it all out.

There's really no room in this case for a blowhole fan, unless it's halfway into the top 5.25" drive bay. And I think it would disrupt airflow causing more harm than good. IMO, the way I set it up is the best way for air cooling.Intakes in the front, and cut the back for an extra 80mm. That way you (can) have two intake fans in front, plus two 80mm's and the PSU exhaust fan in the rear.

Obviously, as far as sizes go, I would say 120mm's in the front and 80mm's in the rear (80mm is the largest you can put back there )

I'm not sure what a great noise:airflow ratio fan will be, but I'm sure if you asked in the Air cooling forum they could suggest some.

As far as fitment, my mATX mobo fits well in my case. Might cut out a cardboard template as large as your mobo and set it in to see if you might have any clearance issues before hand.

Cost- Paint, an acrylic window, and some fans won't be too much. And done well, can look great. Some modders mesh might look nice on the front too. Seeing how this is you first mod, I don't think you want to tackle bondo like my bezel is (unless you're frisky, then go for it!!)

Maybe all that can give you something to stand on.

Well, theres one thing I don't like about the case..
The front; where the drive bays are, I can see black lines where the drive bays are, I would rather have it solid, and fit more snugly, is there anyway I could do that?

I've picked out the parts so far, what do you think?
I'm going to paint the outside red; what kind of paint / texture should I give it?
I'm looking to cut out the side and make a window there, got any ideas where I can find those at?

PARTS:
http://www.xoxide.com/coldcathodered.html (inside the case)
http://www.xoxide.com/sunbeam-led-case-handle-red.html x 2
http://www.xoxide.com/ledacfomodr.html
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811999138
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835150007 x2

So far it's came out to about $40, which isn't too bad.
I would like a side window, but if it costs too much I may just screw more holes in the side or something to let the LED shine through.
I'm just wondering what kind of paint I should use, and how to make my drive bays look a little less... junky?

EDIT: Got any other cool neat little (low priced) things I could stick on this thing? I was thinking maybe a metal decal in the front, where the gateway logo is...
