I just got the best friggin idea in the world on how to cool my processor. I work with my uncle, and we install heating and air conditioning systems in homes. So one of the things we do is install the vents that take the condensation out of your bathroom when you take a shower. The kind of duct that is connected to that fan is a aluminum flex duct(picture 1). The duct carries air to the outside of the home. So I was thinking, why couldn't I attatch a 3 inch flex duct to my side panel blower fan(produces a lot of air), and lead it to the cpu fan. This way, the CPU fan would only suck in cold air from the outside, not hot air from the inside. And I could take a 1 inch flex duct, cut a hole in the 3 inch, attatch the one inch and lead it to the gfx card fan. This is all based on logic and I am theorizing, but it should work, this is my idea so please don't steal it. The only problem I have is how to get the duct of when I open the case. The answer is: Atatch a rubber fitting around the inside of the flex, and squish it into the side panel hole. When I want to open the case, it would just pop out. The second picture shows my plan.

Yeah, I've already done with.
![]() Only problem is, That this will only work during Fall/Winter/Early spring. During summer, Outside temps tend to be hotter..

Yeah, its been done before
It MIGHT help, but it depends.....You better be sure you fan moves taht air other wise it will just be dead air coming out of that duct and will hurt your cpu's temp performance. I would recommend forgetting the duct as it ruins the flow of air for EVERYTHING else in your case. Concentrate on hiding those cables out of the main area of the motherboard and change that side intake for a larger 120mm fan. Better air flow in your case will make for better temps for everything and imagine if just the duct was pushing in cold air but nothing else was getting cooled. The air inside your case would eventually just get hotter and again without that side intake anymore (as it being dedicated to just the cpu now) and your cpu will also take that hot air and eventually will be even warmer then before....Right? Right.

Well, who really cares if it has been done before...its all about will it help and in his situation, most likely not. However, what are your temps with your ducting mod?

I was thinking of a way to use to a vacuum to suck hot air out of a case. But I bet thats been done before too.
